« on: July 01, 2014, 18:03:13 pm »
Hi everyone! How much sleep does/ did your lo get at around 22 months and what is your EASY? Just curious as dd sleep has gone wonky again (emw and long chatty nws).  Not sure if I need to nap cap, push nap or bedtime. Our day
looks like this:
Wu 5:45-6:30 used to be 6:30/7
nap 1230/45-2:15/30
Bed 6:45 asleep7/7:15

My DS is 21.5 months. Our EASY is similar. We've been having EWings for the past 2.5 months. Anywhere from 5:30-5:45 is the norm. Our routine looks like this:
WU- 5:30/5:45
Nap- 1-3pm
BT- 6:45/7pm (He usually goes to sleep right away)

We are in the same boat then. Aren't the EWs awful?

Just a thought, my DS's sleep went REALLY wonky around 22 months...turned out he had a massive language explosion and then things went relatively normal.  I also ended up pushing BT out a bit until around 7:45pm and that helped (though that would make for a long day if EW).

Lindsay she is for sure having a huuuuuge language explosion. Has been for a few weeks. A new word or 2 a day. What did the rest of his day look like? C generally only naps for 1.5-1.75 max.

I think our day looked something like...

WU 6/6:30
Nap 12:30 - 2 at daycare (on weekends he would often do 1 - 3pm)
BT 7:45pm

On the days you don't have an EW, maybe consider pushing the nap closer to 1pm, then do a little later BT and hopefully get a later WU.

Our routine is the same except our BT is an hour earlier and we are getting major major nws. Long and chatty or chatty emw. Her nap used to be at 1 but since the emw I have brought it back. Now emw are back and even earlier.

So after her nice long night she had a nice long 2 hour nap and it's now 3 am and she's singing and chatting up a storm. Yesterday looked like this:
Wu 5:45
Nap 12:15-2:15
Bed 6:45 asleep7
Wu 3 am. It's now 3:23 and there's no end in sight. This happens a lot lately. Is this UT or OT? Tomorrow then she'll be shattered and short nap. I feel kind of like a dog chasing my tail. I thought for sure after a nnd the 2 hour nap was needed. Last time this happened(long night +long nap) she was awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night!

Sorry to bump my own post but am in a bit of a bind. Today she fell back to sleep from 5-7:20. I put down for a nap at 12:45 and she fell asleep at 1:05. It's 2:45 and she's still asleep. Do I cap at 2 hours and what time is bed given she wad up chatting for 2 hours last night? No enough awake time will surely cause issues but I am not entirely certain if last night's ling chatty NW was ut from the 12 hour night+2 hour nap or residual OT from the nnd 2 days ago.

Hi!

I'm sorry if in too late.

Iiwm I'd cap at 2h and keep the day at 12.5/13h max if you think 12h day with a 2h nap is hindering the night.

I seem to recall a spate of long NW around this age. For us, it was shortly followed by a language explosion.

Hang in there. Big hugs xxx

Thanks for helping! She woke at 1 hour 40 ish so was awake at 2:45/50. Bed at 12 hour day asleep just shortly after. I wanted to rule out OT. Well it's 5 am and International Chatfest 2014 is hopefully just coming to a close. Oh, nope she's chatting again. Going on since about 3:30.
Her language is massively exploding but I think for sure I need to do something with her nap. But I am just not sure what. She seems so tired but it's due to crappy nights.

Bump. What is causing the emw/chatty nws? Is that ever forgOT? Is it time to cap the nap? Or is she just stupidly OT?

For us, I always found that EWs and NWs were OT related, but I think we're an exception to the norm - I think for most these are a sign of UT.  That said, if she was having some crazy early EWs then I suspect she is probably OT by this point.

I would maybe let her nap as along as she needs for a few days to observe and if the un-capped naps cause BT shenanigans, NWs, or EWs then I def think it's UT and it might be time to start capping.

What do you think?

Thanks for the reply. She's never really been a nw'er so this is all new. She only had 80 mins today in a 13 hour day but was in her crib for over an hour this am awake. It's going on hour 2 of chatting/crying to get up and it's 3:30 am. She is defo OT from not sleeping at night. Her nap is rarely over 1.5. Mostly 1.5 3 days a week and the rest 1.75 and a few days 2 hours. She is cutting canines and her language is crazy exploding 3 new words today. I'm exhausted!  22 months of crap sleep!
