5 month old waking every 40 mins /1 hour
« on: July 16, 2014, 11:12:00 am »
Hi

Any advice gratefully received .....

My son is 5 months old and has always slept well in his hammock.  However he can now turn over in this and can be face down which is not a great plan!!

I have bought a cot but he is not taking to it at all. He will get himself to sleep in it with a cloth and his dummy and will sleep for a few hours but after about 11pm his dream feed he will then wake every 40 mins to an hour.

I shush pat and put his dummy in but he still wakes again then sometimes as little as 15 mins later. He used to be able to bounce his hammock and get himself back to sleep so I think he is missing this.
What should I be doing to help him go back off and stay asleep?

He is still only 13 lbs so still eats 7/8pm and 11 ish.

Thanks in advance.

Gemma

His routine is 4 hour easy. 7:30 eat, 8 am some solids . nap 9am ish 45 mins longer if I can extend.
11.30 bf, 12 solids, 1:30 nap
3:30 bf, 4 pm solids, 5:30 nap 30 mins
Ish this is all very ish but definitely on 4 you easy with 2-2.5 hours a time
We weaned early on paediatricians advice as not gaining a lot of weight and has kidney reflux but not symptomatic

Hi Hun, what is Kidney Reflux? As for the hammock that may  just take time for him to get used to not being in it. When did you make the transition. Was he able to put himself to sleep before when in the hammock? I.e. you put him down awake and leave him to help himself to sleep?

Hi
It just means some of his urine flows back up into his kidneys, rather than draining properly. No other complications.

Yes, he used to get himself back to sleep by bouncing the hammock on its spring so will need to sleep train him so can learn in a cot.

Did pu/pd with my eldest years ago. May try that again?
