Cry cry and more :(
« on: July 27, 2014, 00:01:34 am »
It's heart renching to hear my DD cry after every feed.
She's 4 months old today and recently her time inbetween feeds have been shorter and shorter and she still cries. She gets about 24oz a day in 5 or 6 bottles.
I'm slowly adding a little to each feed in hopes that this will help.
I know it's advised to always have more in the bottle than she'll drink but honestly I think if I put 10oz in each she would drink it.  For some reason I've never had either of my LO's refuse the liquid gold (BM).

During the day I can get about 3.5-4 hours inbetween feeds
The early evening is our longest stretch of 5 hours
Then from 2am-6am there about it's 2.5-3 hours between.

I'd you need my exact E.A.S.Y routine I'll have to get to my computer.

Anyone else have LO cry after every bottle?
I'm So Sad

There's a hugs growth spurt at 4 months -- could it be that?  Is she in any discomfort do you think

No discomfort that I can tell of.
She's just waking up so randomly and wanting a bottle
I've tried soothing before just offering but it's not been successful

I find it so hard to believe that she drinks 4 oz then 3 hours later drinks 4.75 oz then 3.5 hours another 4.75 as if she's not had anything

Is she having breast milk in her bottles? If so it's not really unusual to be honest - many breastfed babies can't go 4 hours between feeds at this age because breast milk is digest far more quickly than formula.

I would increase her bottles to 5oz of you can and keep her on a 3 hourly feeds and see if that helps. As Erin said, there is a big growth spurt at 4 months and that could be causing it too.

She probably needs more than 24oz in a day too. How much does she weigh? A rough guide for formula is 2-2.5oz per lb of body weight in 24 hours, I'm not sure if that's the same for breast milk but if she isn't satisfied at the end of a bottle it does sound as if she needs more.
