What do yall use for leaking breasts?
« on: August 05, 2014, 17:09:28 pm »
With my dd my milk was dried up by now so I wasn't going through those absorbent breast pads like I am. Do yall wear them all the time everyday? I was thinking about getting the reusable/washable kind but wasn't sure about them. What do yall do to avoid your shirt getting all wet? Lol ;)

I used the reusable ones, unless I was going to be out of the house for a really long time. I found them more confortable, and after a while I got a rash from the SAP in the commercial ones.

I used disposables mainly if I was going out - I never found the washables absorbent enough. I only really leaked at let down after a while though so would just pop some in close to feed time if I was home. Obviously a PITA if a crying baby triggered a random 'sympathy let down' though  ::) ::).

Did you pump to establish supply when your LO came early? It often causes oversupply and these type of issues in the early days, but should slowly settle  :) :-* :-*.

I did pump and had quite a bit of a oversupply but it seems to be settling. It is mostly around my let down that I have leakage but sometimes it can be quite a bit. I'm just afraid to not wear anything.

I wore reusable ones the entire time - they were better than disposables I had used before. I think they were hemp or bamboo, I got them off Etsy. They were PUL backed so leak proof and invisible under my bra or nursing tank.

I used mostly reusable ones, but sometimes used the disposables if I was going to be out and about for a bit.  The reusable ones are better for your skin as they don't trap all the moisture.

Erin yes the moisture seems to get me from time to time. My nipple don't always seem to recover after a feed if the pad is damp. I think that's why I've been going through them so much!

I used disposable but would like to try reusable this time.  A trick my sister taught me was to push the inside of my forearm into my breast when I felt like it was going to leak.  It worked wonderfully!  I still wore pads in the early days but after a few months I didn't leak anymore but I don't think it's necessarily like that for everyone (I did get AF back both times around 6-8 weeks  ::) so you win some you loose some  :P )
