Crying before sleep today
« on: August 05, 2014, 23:29:41 pm »
Tiday lo wouldn't go down for nap he cried and fussed which he never does and woke after 30 mins! I put him to bed at 7 instead of his usuall 745 ish and he cried hysterical so I went in to calm him and give him some Tylenol as molars are coming in. Could that be the cause of his crying and bad nap or maybe he was just over tired tonight befire bed being that he only took a 30 min nap? Yikes he was doibg so well with the transition to one 2 hr nap

Probably just a combo of teeth and ot - molars were always the worst for DD1.

I agree. If he doesn't nap you may need to go for an earlier BT, say no later than 6.30'if your usual BT at 7.45pm. The hysterics at BT was probably OT x

Why is lo only doing a 1 hour-1.5 hour nap when he was doing 2 hr for a while? I know his molars are coming in but could that shorten nap? His night sleep is sound. I will put him to bed about 30 mins earlier at night but he just wakes earlier in am.

How old is he? Sometimes it is hard (or impossible!) to figure out the reasons for these things - could be teeth or just development and needing a bit less sleep.

He's 13 months. He keeps waking earlier every day! Should I try putting him to bed later?

I would try a bit earlier nap for sure, but keeping in mind if it is down to teeth it may not solve it!

I've been trying earlier nap , later nap , earlier bt and later bt and he keeps waking up earlier in the morning and the most bed doibg at nap is 1 hr- 1 hr 20 mins. For a while he would wake at 730 nsp from 1230-230 and bed 730 it was great!! Don't know what happeved! Today he was up 645 so I'm going to try nap at 12 instead of 1230 just hope he eats his lunch that earlier. The other molar finally cut through. He's been so cranky and fussy snd not himself :( do you think he needs less sleep or possibly ot or just his teeth.

So he was up today aroubd 645 I put him down for nap at 12 asleep by 1210 but he wakes at every nap hysterical at 1 hr 15-20 mins and it takes him a good 30 mins or more to stop crying it's awful. So today he woke from nap at 130. What time should I put him to bed?

Would he do an ebt of 6:30? Honestly at this age it could be any one of a number of things affecting him (though teeth or growth spurt are more likely as there are one year molars and a growth spurt usually at age one).

Poor baby cried for an hour! And even now is pretty cranky. I've been giving him Tylenol too! He's been up since 130 so a 5 hour a time would be 630 I guess I can give it a shot. But I wonder why he's waking earlier every morning and why he's waking hysterical from nap every day.

I did bath at 630 pjs bottle and asleep by 7. We will see wgat time he wakes I'm morning. Just hope it's not another day where he wakes hysterical from his 1 hr nap. I'm not sure wgat else to do or why he's waking so upset And takes him so long to calm down.

He was up today again at 640! How do I get him back to that schedule of wake at 730 nap 1230-230 bed 730? Should I try to do nap later today at 1230 and hope he takes a good one and do bedtime at 730?  Although I have already tried this and I still keep getting the 1 hr 1.5 hr nap and early waking in morning. Help I'm stuck!

So he's going to bed by 6:30/7 ish and up at 6:40? Is he sttn or having nw? Might be a case of slowly moving bedtime where you want it or if his body clock is set for that pattern to just go with it.

Sorry hon, I only get on bw to reply to posts at night! So totally too late but tbh my 12 month old would never do bedtime with 4 hrs A after even an hour nap (she is weirdly low sleep needs though). Just out of curiosity how has been sleep wise all along - low/avg/high?

I put him to bed at 645 he was asleep by 650. He always does a 12 hr night and for a month now he was doing a 1 hr 45-2 hr nap and hasn't woke befire 7 in a long time. So this 1 hr 15 min nap where he wakes crying and upset for an hour afterwards and waking earlier every day only doibg about 10.5 hrs sleep is not like him. I'm thinking maybe he's ot. Why ejse would he wake at 1 hr 15 mins everyday and wake earlier every morning? He just had 4 molars come through :(

Well teeth can certainly throw things off! Growth spurts too.  There does come a point though where constantly tweaking and moving naps/bedtimes about is not worth it and sticking with (mostly) set times works better unless something like illness happens. Kind ofhave to ride those tough times out until he is back to normal (lol though tbh not sure if things ever are "normal" at all but just constant change!).

But why such a change in wake time in morning and short naps and waking up upset ? How can he go from 14 hrs sleep to 11.5? So if he wakes early again tomorrow say 630 when do I do lunch and nap ? I was doing 5 hrs A time befire nap which would mean lunch at 11 nsp at 1130 which is way too early especially if he's doing the 1 hr 15 min nap then he will be up from nap at 1245 and then when would bt be? Ugh this is hard

Does he respond to any ap at all? Just thinking if you need to catch him up from ot if that would work short term? Wake to sleep to try and extend the nap?

He went to ned at 645 last night and woke at 7 today instead of 615 which was good. Odd how puttibg to bed earlier can make them sleep later but his nap was still only 1 hr 15 mins from 1215-130! What's with that time ? He used to do 2 hrs!!

It could be ot or just teeth/developmental. You know him best, do you think ebt will help or is a shorter nap his new normal?

I'm not sure but he wakes upset snd takes him a while to calm down and was waking earliee in AM aren't those all signs of ot? Is 1 hour nap nornal
For this age? If he wakes at 645 does an hour nap and bed at 7 is that decent amount of total sleep ? I ajways feel like 7 is eArly for bed. How do I get him back on the old good schedule ?

It may just be a case of riding it out. 13 hrs per day is potentially enough for some babies of this age but it may not be his ideal. 7/7:30 was my older kids bedtime for ages actually, that way I got Y time in the evening as they had to get up for either daycare or school eventually.

How do I get him to wake later in morning? I tried to put him to bed later and he just woke up even earlier! Today he was up at 630 when should I put him down for nap ? He normally does 5 hrs A time but that's only 1130 which just is too early especially if he's only going to sleep an hour.

He fell asleep while we were just sitting on the bed playing and singing! I couldn't believe it he's never done that befire! So u moved him to his crib at 1015! Guess he was exhausted poor baby. I guess I'll see how long he sleeps but what will I do if he wakes around 1130? Will I need to give him another nap this afternoon ? What time ? Do I just see if he will take a short 30 min nap in car maybe? Will he then go to sleep around 8? Yikes
