9 month old feeding schedule?
« on: August 09, 2014, 18:09:51 pm »
Hi - I don't know if this is the right spot to post, but I thought I'd try.

How do I fit in breastfeeding and solids? He's pretty much at a 4 hour awake time, so how do I Bf and do solids within that 4 hours?

example
WU 7:30am
BF 8am
solids 11
nap 11:30..........so where does the BF fit in?

The reason I extend the solids is because he generally doesn't even want them and also to keep my sanity I get out of the house in the AM to go to the gym. So when we come back is when he gets solids.

So, if I BF after nap, the time between feedings will be closer to 5 1/2 hours??

Thanks!

At this point we just did:

WU and BF
Breakfast an hour later
*Nap 1*
BF on WU
Lunch an hour later
*Nap 2* (usually short)
BF on WU - though dropped this around 10 months as she was no longer interested
Dinner an hour or so later
BF before BT

Exact timings don't matter quite so much once they are older :). The solid foods before nap should see him through until he wakes up.  Just be careful if you give solids too soon before the next BF though that could reduce his milk intake, which should still be the most important at this age.

Hope that helps :)

But wouldn't that push breastfeeding past 4 hours? Is there a point when you stop bf every 4 hours?

Pretty much as soon as you hit the 3-2 nap transition ;) so any time from 6 months.  It becomes a 4h+ EASY where commonly the first two bfs are further apart, and then the ones later in the day tend to cluster closer together.  Ours at 9 months were typically at 6.30/7, 11.30/12, 4ish and 6.30pmish.
