Dropping DF for 10mo
« on: September 02, 2014, 17:15:54 pm »
Hi

I'm wondering whether to drop the DF.  If so, how?  I'm worried that DD will not be getting enough milk if I drop the DF (she takes between 180 - 210ml per feed).  I tried to get DD to eat more solids but she's just not interested.

Here's her routine:

8.00 wake
8.30 milk
10.30 breakfast
11.30 sleep
13.00 wake
13.30 lunch (approx half to a third of a weaning bowl)
15.30 milk plus sometimes a snack
16.30 sleep
18.00 wake
18.30 dinner
20.30 milk plus some cheese
22.00 sleep
0.30 DF

The last two days DD wasn't very interested in dinner.  I read that I should also be feeding 2 snacks.  Where do I fit it in the routine?

If she takes the minimum of 180ml in 3 bottles then that's just below the minimum they recommend, if you add in the milk in foods which counts as well then it looks like she is getting enough.

Most FF babies have dropped the night feed by now, so it's certainly appropriate to wean that feed now.  Cluster & Dreamfeeding FAQ's - Starting, how to do it, stopping & problems

With snacks, while she is on 2 naps you probably won't be able to fit them in if she is eating plenty at her meals and taking milk feeds. Once she gets to 1 you can drop the afternoon milk and give a snack instead and once she gets to 1 nap she may need a snack in the morning to get her through til lunch.

HTH!
