Does gradual withdrawal work for early waking?
« on: September 18, 2014, 06:26:55 am »
I have been told that I need to leave my early waking 13mo to cry in the mornings, until a time I am happy to get him up. I'm not comfortable with that, he has never been left to cry alone - but I do use GW at other times, so am wondering how it would work once he is obviously done sleeping, as getting him back to sleep is obviously not the aim.

I did an EBT of 6:15pm last night & he STTN for 11hrs... But that meant w/u was 5:15am obviously - which is about the time he wakes every other day (regardless of BT) As I'm trying to combat early waking, I left him grizzling for 15 minutes, but once he started getting upset I went in and sat with him (in dark & quiet) until 6am.

I'm trying to work out if that is the right thing to do?  Do I also therefore start our routine from 6am not the time he actually woke?

I usually end up using ap for ew, but generally our fix is a routine tweak. Either nap capping or a later bedtime is the key here.
