Short or no naps,Baby smiling and laughing
« on: October 05, 2014, 22:22:57 pm »
Hi!
I have a 4 months old baby boy who is on a 4 hourly feed schedule. He was on the 3h schedule until he was 4 months and he was napping fine (1-2hrs after each feed, going down without a cry, waking up smiling)
But since we did the move to the 4hrs feeding, he refuses to nap.Cries as soon as I put him down, and when he finally falls asleep he will only do so for max 45min
Tried the ssshh-pat and the PU/PD but the problem is that as soon as I walk into the room he stops crying and starts cooing, smiling and chuckling! But he is tired because if I take him out (my health visitor suggested that he may not need as long sleeps) he is ok for 30min or so and then gets all grumpy and sleepy again
He sleeps well at night, goes down without a problem
It is most likely my fault as we go out a lot and he used to sleep on the go and maybe in this new phase he couldn't and I have "ruined" his routine
I find difficult to know how to extend his naps when I find him all happy and sociable in his cot!
I am also doing the 4"s"(setting scene,sitting...) but he just doesn't switch off!
Any ideas?
Thank you so much!

Can you post your routine for us? (A typical day)
