EMW for 4.5 months
« on: October 22, 2014, 13:38:01 pm »

Hi,

My LO has been waking between 5-530am for a while. I would usually give her a small feed (I would dilute the formula for 1oz to about 2.5 oz. in order for her to be able to drink at 730am)
And proceed to put her back to sleep. Usually, she falls back asleep.

But I am now wondering if she is waking out of habit? She is always laughing and smiling at this time, so I am suspecting thAt she is not truly hungry?

Her drinking at 730am is very slow, it would take me the entire awake time to finish 4oz.

Not sure how best to move her emw to 7?

She is currently loosly following a 3.5hr easy routine.

Any suggestions?

Jeanette

It's certainly possible it's becoming a habit.  Are you able to use Shh-Pat or PU/PD to get her back to sleep?  Is she waking and crying or just lying in bed chatting?  Could you post your EASY so we can take a look at her day?

Hi Laura,

Her routine is:
720/30 - wake her up
740-830 - eat with breaks in between
9 - usually asleep by then
1030/1045 - awake by herself
1130-12 - eats with breaks in between
1215/1230 - asleep
145/2 - awake
230 - eats. She drinks faster at this slot
330 - asleep by this time if not earlier
410 - awake
445/5 - a small amt of milk
530/545 - short catnap if possible
630 latest bath and feed
730 - asleep
11 - wake her for DF

Her naps are between 100-120 min so i adapt accordingly. She tanks up at the dinner feed, drinking about 7oz, whilst her day feeds are about 4oz. It's challenging to feed her in the day as she is distracted, even if I feed her in a quiet and dark room. She still doesn't finish at 1 sitting.

When she wakes up at about 5, it's not an outright cry. She will make noises and it gets louder if I let her be. Sssh/pat is very time consuming  ;D so I sometimes think feeding her is the best option of getting her back to bed. But not sure what the repercussions are if I continue to do it?

What do I need to do?
