Help with today, please!
« on: November 15, 2014, 14:16:15 pm »
We are in the 2-1. We have a bday party this afternoon so I'd like to try one nap but not sure what time to do it. A little nervous I'll get a short, OT nap but might give it a shot.

Here's what's been working...

7am - A
1015 - S
1045 - A (wake her)
2 - S
430ish - S
8ish - S

Thoughts? Thanks!

Not a great help maybe, but I would be slightly afraid of one nap on such a day as birthday parties are usually so tiring, aren't they:)? Wouldn't be better to go for two naps still, even if the second one could be shorter and in the buggy/travel cot if needed?

Would she make it to 11? I think I'd try for that (maybe 11:15, but that might be pushing it) and then cross my fingers for a 2.5-3hr nap.  Hopefully, you could resettle if she wakes early. If not, I guess I'd try to AP a later afternoon one, although you might have to leave the party and go for a walk or something for that.

Good luck!

She won't sleep in the stroller. If I nurse her in the carrier she will sometimes take a short nap there these days. Maybe I should try for a longer nap and then try for a carrier nap if she's getting tired at the party. The party starts at 2 and I'd really like the big kids to be able to go. Hmm. I could also just keep on her schedule and go late. So hard to decide!

Katie, I think she would make it to 11 or 1115 since she woke up late. She's usually crawling around and being energetic right before she goes down for the AM CN but rubs her eyes when I lay her down and goes straight down. So I think she could make it a bit longer. I'm just not confident she will take a long nap. But you're right, i can try to AP a CN at the party if she doesn't sleep very long.

I hate nap transitions! Can't wait to get to 1 nap!!

It went pretty well, actually! She slept from 12-230 (she didn't wake up today until 730), which was longer than I thought she might do.

The party was really fun. She's had all sorts of SA lately, crying when I leave the room, etc. But at the party she was constantly trying to crawl away from me and be with the big kids! Then she was holding onto my friend for dear life when it was time to go and cried when we left! Silly girl. :)

Didn't get her into bed until 630 since we had to nurse, etc when we got home. Had to pat her to sleep since I think she was OT and pretty sad. I think if we try one nap days from now on, the A time after the nap needs to be a bit shorter.

But overall, it was a success and I think we may be closer to one nap than I'd thought.

One thing is that the kids do our homeschool coop 3 mornings a week and it won't be possible for her to nap until 1 or 130 those days. She almost never will nap for DH in the carrier. He asked me what to do those days (first time will be next Wed) and I feel like there's not a lot TO do, just get her down as soon as possible when he gets home. If she takes a 15 min car nap around 1230 or 1, what time would you try for another nap you think?

Sounds like a successful day!! ;D

Will she transfer at all? It's a hard call and you may need to do some trial and error. Charlie has fallen asleep on the way home from different things when he hasn't slept in the morning (he doesn't transfer!) and I end up bringing him straight up and nursing him and he usually falls back to sleep. Sometimes, though he's been up for 20-30min and still falls asleep when I nurse him, so then I just put him down. Those are some of the only times he's taken a longer nap! :P I guess the more you could treat it as one nap, the better?

Yeah we just haven't dealt with this that much. Last week she did fall asleep in the car and I managed to transfer her but I think that will be harder for him on his own and no nursing. I guess we will just have to try and see. I hate that! Lol

Ha... me too! Yeah, without the nursing, I'd be toast. :P
