Ok to switch to single side feeds?
« on: November 20, 2014, 22:10:10 pm »
That's it really. I can't remember what age I switched C and always did both sides with G as he had trouble gaining weight. Is it ok at 9 weeks or do I need to wait longer?

I was doing single side with the first two at that age (a lot sooner, cannot remember specifics though!). DD3 never single side fed!

I thought most people started off single sided and changed to double sided as LO got older ??? Or some just struck with single sided from the beginning.

I don't think there is any need to stop offering the second side. As long as you let him dictate when to finish on the first side then he should only take the second side when he needs it I should have thought.

Lol about doing it the opposite Ali! I'm not sure there are benefits other than maybe more hind milk?  I want to only do single side because I realized he's generally content with one side but I've continued to offer the second side which he happily has and then spits up a ton. My left side is less favored and in turn produces less so the first feeds from that side of the day seem ok but the last he wants both sides. Hopefully my boobs aren't too confused!
