Starting Easy with a breastfed baby...
« on: November 26, 2014, 14:35:47 pm »
I'm wondering how to start EASY for a 8 week old large breastfed baby.. She is also a very slow and long feeder and falls asleep feeding, so her 'E' tends to be long, which runs into 'A' time. Then she can be up for 3-4 hours at a time.. I'm kinda confused on what to do.

E time is technically part of A time...how long do feeds usually last?

Sometimes they can last for an hour or more, but that usually happens if she falls asleep during the feed.

Well she is still pretty young. For us feeds were 45 min and the rest of A time was pretty much a diaper change and a wee bit of tummy time or something and back to bed! DD2 used to fall asleep so a lot of times I had to strip her down or change her diaper midway through a feed to rouse her.

I have tried all of that.. Our days are all over the place and understand it will not be perfect, but would like to get some structure as I have another child and
i find it difficult to get things done when there is no break.

What about using a sling or wrap for naps so your hands are free? I did that a lot when DD3 was under 3-4 months old. I always tried first to get her to settle in the bassinet or crib and then if that did not work I wore her.
