Liz,
I have hypoplastic breasts (which I'm sure you know, means that I have undeveloped / underdeveloped breast tissue). With Matthew I struggled to breastfeed with him, but with the right support I was able to, but only one side truly produced milk, the other side tried but frankly was pathetic
When I had Andrew, I didnt try to alternate feeding sides as suggested and which led to Matthew being borderline 'failure to thrive'.
I think what I'm saying is, I managed to bf pretty much one-sided (whilst trying to stimulate the other side) but I hadnt had surgery which may have affected breast tissue. I think that if you continue with trying to get the fragile breast going, that you could end up with further problems down the line.. If one side is producing, could you use that side to prevent getting your other side sore.
Is there a specialist bf-counsellor who can advise you on this?
Lots of Hugs
Alex
