When school runs/ nursery/ playgroup interfere with morning nap
« on: December 04, 2014, 10:09:45 am »
Hi

I had help the other day and it was great increase in A time helped improve naps to 1hr30 each and only one night waking for a feed.

My question is what do most mums do if the morning nap is cut short because you have to take another child out in the morning. I try to settle DS in his car seat on those days but he wakes at 40 mins when we get out to drop DS1 off. How much do u reduce ur next A time or do u do anything different on those days.
Easy is
6:30 wake
8:45 sleep
10:15 wake
12:30 sleep
2;00 awake
4:15 asleep
5:00 awake
6:30 in bed

He will be moving to two naps at some point soon, so that might have a bearing on things. Maybe you could aim for a short am nap and a long pm one?

Yesterday we got a 2 hr nap at 12:55but he refused a catnap and was in bed asleep by 6:15, only 2 night wakings but Wakened at 5 this morning and wouldn't resettle.

Would u have aimed for an earlier bedtime?

Probably not, but I'm no routine expert I'm afraid - my DS is very low sleep needs, and is almost seven now. We didn't really follow any traditional routine as his A times were so long.

If you think he tolerates OT well, it may be worth trying to stretch his A times further.

Just to let u know what we now do on days I have to go out early, we are having a 45 min nap then a 2.5 hr nap then a catnap, some days now though the cat nap is being refused. So day looks like this

6:00 awake
8:25 nap
9:10 awake
11:40 asleep
2:15 awake brought 3 o'clock feed forward as was struggling to get him to take a good feed at 6 for bed.
4:45 catnap
6:30 bed
