8mo suddenly needs Mom in room!
« on: December 29, 2014, 17:22:44 pm »
EASY-4hr
Wu- 7am
BF-7:20
Solids-8:20
Nap-10:15-11:45
BF-12pm
Solids-1pm
Nap-3:05-3:40- this nap he was taken for nap at 2:45, but he messed around until 3:05 and got OT
Bath-6pm
BF for bedtime6:10-7:20
Sleep8pm- Normally the bedtime feed he eats and sleeps for an hour, he wakes when I put him in bed and settles himself back to sleep, but for last 2 nights I've had to go in his room and pat bum.

His WU and nap length are not always consistent, but the 4hr easy is routine. His A time at moment is about 3hrs10-15mins.

Since Christmas my DS has not gone down for naps well for me. If my DH put him down he would settle and go to sleep as normal, but with me he fusses and cries until I go back in the room. I had been patting his bum, but today for his first nap I stood by crib and he settled himself and did a 1hr5min nap. At first I just thought it was OS from all the new toys etc, but now I'm not sure if it's longer A, or teeth, or a little seperation anxiety.

It's the bedtime that confuses me the most, it has never been a problem, he has always settled himself, even if I had to go in and change his diaper, he would settle himself. For naps I could tell he was ready for time bump if his naps got shorter, not fussing and making me come in room.

I should also mention in morning most days he wakes up around 6ish, talks for bit then goes back to sleep for short time. This morning he woke at 6:20, then went back to sleep from 6:55-7:20.

Any ideas??!

It could be a bit of SA, esp as he goes down for your DH just fine. It's also a prime age for SA. Here are a couple helpful links... Tips for seperation anxiety, Getting back on track using Walk In/Walk Out (WI/WO)

However, I also think he's likely due an A time increase. The playing around, shortening naps, and chatty EW are all signs he's probably needing a bit more A time.

Thank you for the links. I bumped his A yesterday for his 2nd nap and gave tylenol and orajel before nap and he settled himself right away. I'm thinking it was a combo of teeth, needing A increase, and that he was just coming off a growth spurt too. He settled last night at BT and again for 1st nap today. Fingers crossed it continues! Thanks for the help!

Sounds good... hope it continues! FWIW, I've always found SA to be a bit worse during teething, so it's not surprising you've got a few issues going on.
