Does anyone still use blackout shades?
« on: January 04, 2015, 17:57:07 pm »
So I bought and hung new shades that were supposed to block the sun and they aren't so day number two of 18 mo having a hard time falling asleep at nap time. Do most people still use blackout shades? I didn't think it would be a problem but I was wrong! Lol

I still have DS's windows totally covered in tin foil and he's almost 4yo.  I know for sure the sun wakes him in the morning if his door is left open. The rare occasion (illness) he comes to sleep in my bed for comfort he'll wake me up about 5am to tell me he is going back to his own bed, it's because it's too bright in my room.

We all have our rooms blacked out! DD2's room has tinfoil (she was in it until she was 5.5, now DD3 has that room) and all the rooms have blinds and blackout curtains. We love our sleep here and in spring/summer it gets too bright without it and in winter it helps insulate (-46 today with windchill!!).

Yes we have them because it gets light in the early morning and wakes the boys up otherwise.

The shades I had broke so I ordered fabric roman shades but they are room darkening not blackout and they aren't doing the trick. It's so hard to find the size that I need for my windows.

We have wooden blinds and then blackout curtains which we had made to measure.
