19 months needing 6hr A time before naps and BT ?
« on: January 08, 2015, 18:41:13 pm »
Lo seems to want longer A time making BT late. Previously was doing wonderful 5 hrs A time 2 hrs nap would wake him up then 6 hrs later Bt . I have noticed this change when I got my video baby monitor back , so not to sure how long its been going on for. I would wake him up @0800 then nap @1:00 up at 3:00 down by 9:00.  When I woke him up @0800 and put him down at 1  noticed waking 45 minutes later so I increased by15 minutes until recently figured he sleeps better after 6hr A time then I tried putting him down 30 minutes early for BT but just lays there for 30-45 minutes then sleeps now waking up early in the morning .I feel like its going in circles any suggestions?

I would try cutting the nap back a little bit and stick to 13hr day. He should then be more tired at BT.

It just seems he isn't getting enough sleep altogether. Today I felt so bad waking him up from his 2 hr  nap he was still  so tired. He was doing 11 hr at night and 2 hrs for naps = 13 hrs total. So if I cut his nap an hr do I put him down early ? Just now I put him down for BT and he is laying in bed don't know if this is new way  in settling in and  takes him 30-45 minutes to fall asleep or is he just not tired enough yet? Its harder to read his sleep cues now that he's older. I sometimes wondering when I was putting him down for his first nap after 5 hrs A time and he slept 45 minutes if he was just OT due to little sleep at night because setting late and waking him up at 800.  Im just confused is he OT or UT its frustrating not only for me but my lo. Oh also.. he has a pacifer for sleep  which he is addicted too ( its a love and hate relationship, would love to get rid of it but hate too take what he loves)  and he does replugg himself at night he usually repluggs himself at 45min then is able to fall back asleep but lately he was waking up from naps at 45 minutes and unable to but himself back to sleep. Also I have to pay attention to the baby video monitor because he doesn't make a peek when he wakes up he will lay there until someone comes and gets him he is soo sweet. Its always been such a struggle when it came to his sleep just when you think you got it down packed it backfires on me.

Last night he was put to bed around 0850 fell asleep approx 915. This morning he woke up at 640 its kinda hard to tell on the monitor but he was tossing and turning , rubbing ears  couldn't see eyes just back of head, I let him lay there until 0800.  So I put him down at 1225 fell asleep at 1235 now up screaming 45 minutes later he has never screamed like  this. My DH is wondering maybe he was sleeping  but just tossing and turning in sleep  and put him down to early for his nap. He is so quite when he awakens and sometimes hard to see on monitor if he is not facing the monitor.  What is going on I just don't get it ? So when should I but him down for BT he woke up at 127?  How do I get back on track with him or is it to late?  Love him to have BT at 830 wake 730 . It makes me so sad to see him loss so much sleep because I'm not sure anymore what I'm doing😢.  Please help me and my lo.

Is it possible he is teething? Or getting ill? The ear rubbing, tossing and screaming after nap make me wonder. I imagine the 45 min naps and ew's were due to ut to start but may have led to him being ot. He might need his nap capped a bit if you want him to keep an 11 hour night (we have about an hour nap and an 11 hour night right now for our lsn lo).

Thanks for replying back. The rubbing the ear its a soothing thing he does . I'm not to sure either what happened eother. Last night we put lo down at 0800 fell asleep by 820 this morning he was up at 0700. I'm going to try put him down at 1245 for his nap. How old is your lo do you mind posting your schedule? I just know when I have to wake him p at nap  he is so tired, and it will only give him 12hrs total sleep just seems not enough for his age I thought that 13 was low .

She is almost 17 months and low sleep needs so for us 12 hours in 24 is pretty standard. We would only get more if she is sick. Our day looks like this:

6:30/7:00 wake up
12:30/1:00 nap for one hour
8:00/8:15 bedtime

Bedtime never changes, ebt does not work as she seems pre-programmed for that time! Mornings she wakes herself 90% of the time and if I let her nap too long we get nw &/or ew.

My LO is LSN too, she is 16 months and needs 6,5 h First A and 6 second. This is our day:
WU. 5:30 -  6
S.    12
A.     13
S.      7

We've had this for pretty much last 3 months, I would love her to nap for 2 hours and then sleep for 12 during the night, but it wil never happen. Baby number 2 on the way as from what I have heard it will most likely be LSN too.

Thanks for posting your routines ladies.  It just seems so little sleep for them but I'm willing to try, I guess were not lucky to have them sleep 12 hrs at night and 2hr naps. My first lo  was  on a great routine up @0800 nap at 1 - 3 down at 900 until the age 3.5 yrs. Lo is total off schedule right now yesterday was up at 430 in the morning fell asleep again at 0700 got up at 0800 nap at 1245 woke him up at 315. He was soo tired DH said he tried to fall asleep in car but woke him up he did have a little fever so don't know if some more teeth are coming in put him down at 9:00 and he was out  he woked up in the middle of the night at 1230 cried for a few seconds and out he want but surprising woke up at 630 this morning. I put him down at 1220 see what he will do.
