Very brief timing question
« on: February 06, 2015, 00:14:24 am »
My daughter is 14 weeks old and I want to start her on an EASY routine, but I'm not sure if I should use the 3 hour plan or the 4 hour plan.  I don't want to work super hard at putting her on a 3 hour routine, only to change it again in two weeks.

We had started her on an EASY routine when she was about 5 weeks old, but between going back to work and having a variety of care givers, things have gotten out of hand over the last week. (Waking every 2 hours during the night)

Thanks in advance!

I would go with 3 hours for now. That means 3 hours between feeds. In fact, many babies cannot go straight to 4 hours between feeds and often parents do 3.5 before moving to 4. Does that help?

Hi and welcome to BW :)

I'd suggest just recording her EAS times for 3 days to see what sort of pattern emerges.  I think Tracy suggested this for moving onto EASY so that you are taking into account baby's signals and cues as well as introducing a regular predictable routine.
Even if it feels like there is really no routine oftentimes when you write it down a pattern emerges, or we can help review it with you.  Just write down the times things actually happen (not what you hope for) like this
WU 7.00
E 7.15
A
S 8.30 - 9.15
A
E 10.30... or whatever the actual times are.

Even though we were on EASY from 4 wks whenever something went off track I always started to record our times again, it would help me see what was happening, and helps the BW community to offer individual support.
