5 weeks old late bed time
« on: February 11, 2015, 20:01:17 pm »
Hello ,
My 5 weeks girl easy :
7:30 wake up
E 7:30-8.15
S 8.15-10.30
E 10.30-10.50 or 11-11.20
S 12.30-15.30
E 15:30-16.0
S:5:30-19.0
E:19:30
Sl:20.0-22.30 sleeps but wakes up every 20 , 10, sometimes 30 min
22.30-2 am sleeps
E 2 am
E 4 or 5
E 7:30

The problem of the late bed time from 7:30-22,22.30 she wakes up all the time. She is swaddle with paci , when she cries and wakes up we put back the paci.

Another thing : df : tried to give her a df couple of times between 10-11 , she doesn't take it , not by breast feeding and not by bottle.

Appreciate your help
Thank u
Alisa

Hi Alisa,

She's still very young and fussy evenings are very common in newborn babies - around 8 weeks tends to be the peak.  That said I notice although naps are long you do have some long awake times in the day, can't be helped sometimes I know but try keeping those a bit shorter, closer to an hour to avoid OT.  I also notice you only have four daytime feeds, that's not a lot at 5 weeks especially if breastfed (8-12 feedings per 24h are recommended in the early days).  I would try feeding 3 hourly and get an extra feed in during daytime hours.

If she won't take the DF right now, maybe just feed on demand at night and try again in a few weeks whe evenings are less fussy?

hi,
thank u for your response.
she has so called unplanned feeds during the day as well, if she wake in the middle of the long naps especially so it more than 4 feeds but i will keep it more regular.
so igf i understand u correctly tere isnt much i can do about the late bed time till she is after 8 weeks old? the fuss is common?
cause i have been reading here the easy of similar age babies and they all have bed time around 6-7. so i was just wondering what am i doing wrong ..about that.
the df- i will try later on.
thank u
alisa

Nothing wrong at all :). You can definitely keep trying the earlier BT but try not to panic too much if it doesn't work out just yet.  My DS was a dream at BT, down for 7/7.30pm from 10 days old with no fuss.  DD on the other hand.....let's say I saw the other side of midnight quite a few times before she'd settle ::)
