6 month old MAYBE slept one hour in total
« on: March 08, 2015, 12:33:26 pm »
I'm getting very frusterated with my sons sleeping. He has never been a "good sleeper" but want from sleeping 6 hours at 3 months to never longer than 4 hours at four months. It's just been getting worse and worse, some nights slightly better than others.

Last night in particular, I think he maybe slept 1 hour in total. He tossed and turned ALL night long and woke himself crying very often.

We have been working on extending naps and it has been going great for 4 days. This is what yesterday's schedule was like:

7:30 - wake
8:15 - cereal
8:45 - formula
9:55 - nap
11:44 - wake
12:45 - formula
2:15 - nap
3:45 - wake
4:30 - formula
6:00 - nap
6:30 - wake
7:45 - bath
8:30 - bed

Please note, he is definitely teething. Chews on everything, constantly drools and punches at his jaw. The doctor confirmed this two weeks ago at this checkup. Hes been doing the night waking for about a month though, would teething effects really last that long?

It can do - teething in babies is a nightmare! A definite design fault  ;).

Have you tried giving meds to see if the wakings reduce at all?

Have you started solids yet?

We did give him Advil on this particular night but it obviously didn't help. He's on two solid meals a day and started at 5 months.

Tonight he was sleeping by 8:30 and is already tossing :(

Have you tried teething rings or other teething objects. Would not recommend giving foods at night, but during the day I've heard of people using carrots or a special device you can open and put frozen fruits or smoothie cubes you made.
