Help with my 6mo EASY please?
« on: March 08, 2015, 22:50:31 pm »
Hi everyone,

DD is 6 months old today :) and this is what I'm doing. Can you take a look and offer any advice, particularly in the afternoon? I have to do school pickup 2:30-4 5xper week, and it's interfering with her second nap (can be as short as 20 mins!!!) she can do 2h45min-3hr A time when pushed- but that still doesn't help if arvo nap is super short.

Bf 7am, solids round 8
Sleep 9:45-11:15ish
Bf 11:15
Solids 12:15
Top up bf because otherwise she's needing a feed during school run
2:30 Into car for school, ideally sleep 2:30-4...but what do I do if she's awake at 3?? She's only just dropped the catnap and by then end I was bf her to sleep- not sure that would work anymore
Bf 4ish
Solids 5ish
Bath 6ish
Bf 6:30
Bed
DF 10:30
Still waking for one feed usually round 4am

Any thoughts, ESP for second nap when it gets cut short?

Thanking you!

If second nap gets cut short I don't think you have any choice but to try for a CN  :-\. Other than super-early bedtime but that's not sensible 5 days a week as it will become 'normal' bedtime.  Realistically if her second nap is going to be disturbed every day or she will refuse a third nap, I would deliberately cut short your first nap and aim for a longer restful sleep at midday-ish until you need to leave for the school run.  That should see her through the afternoon a bit better than having the long sleep first, and you may also need to pull BT in a touch sooner.

You could start by chopping 15 mins off the morning nap, and bringing the second one 15-30 mins earlier.  And do that progressively until you end up with a short catnap in the morning and a longer lunchtime sleep.  Something like:

9.45-11 and 2pm
9.45-10.45 and 1.30pm
9.45-10.30 and 1pm
9.45-10.15 and 12.30pm for 2h, bedtime 6/6.30 depending on how she is managing

Obviously those exact times probably won't work, you'd have to follow cues, but could that general idea help you in any way?

Thanks :)

My easy for the past week has looked like this:

Bf 7
Solids 8
Bf 9
Nap 9:45-11:30 ideally but sometimes only 45min!!
Bf 11/11:30
Solids 12:30
Bf 1:30
Nap in car on way to school :( 20-30 mins
Bf 4
Solids 5
Bath
Bf 6:30
DF 10:30. She's been waking for a feed even earlier than this several nights
Still NF at 5ish, then hard to get back to sleep, naps on and off to 6:30/7

If anyone has suggestions on how to drop that night feed I'd be most appreciative. Weight wise she's solid. But she now won't resettle for dh even at 9:30pm last night! Only 3 hrs from last feed!

Nap 1 is becoming shorter each day. Then she can't do only 2 naps or fit 3 for decent bed time.

Does this look feasible until she can do longer A time?

Wake 7
Nap 1 9:30-10:15 (fairly confident she'll only do 40-45mins as shorter A time)
Nap 2 12:30/45-1:15/30
Nap 3 3:30/45-4:15/30

Have to fit in around school run and two naps are killing her. And me!

I would actually shoot for a longer lunchtime sleep, as long as you can possobly fit in before school run.  Then a teeny catnap to get you to bedtime if needed.  Anything more I think will start causing you problems with EWs etc....
