when to stop white noise
« on: March 29, 2015, 09:39:47 am »
So the little boys have had a rain cd playing on repeat for all nights and naps and my mum just said she read it can disturb sleep. When did people stop using white noise with their los and also how did you do it. I'd be interested to know also whether you had white noise on all night or not. Thanks

Never?? DD1 & DD2 still have a white noise machine running and if I didnt need to hear the kids I would get one for myself. They have it at a lower volume and can sleep without it when necessary.

DS is 3.5 years old and also sleeps w/ a white noise machine, on low volume, and can sleep without it if necessary.  I have no plans to stop using it!

If you do decide to wean the white noise, I think I would just gradually decrease the volume over time until it is completely silent.

I think part of it is my mum doesn't understand why we use it and cos I was complaining about h's sleep I think she thought it might be the cause ::)

We all still use white noise (a fan or humidifier). Including DH and I.

We still use a little sound machine that plays lullabies when he falls asleep I change it to "ocean" which is like white noise. It's not that he can't skeep without it but I keep it on so my husband doesn't wake him in the morning while he's getting ready for work. So it more or less drowns out outside sounds.

We're still using it too, but only for drowning out sounds. He sleeps fine without it.

Also still using white noise at 16 months. No plans to stop anytime soon with a new baby on the way! Lots of adults sleep with white noise and it doesn't disrupt sleep unless it isn't truly "white" noise. As in, a TV or music.

We are still using white noise at 6 & 4, and have no plans to stop using it.
