« on: March 29, 2015, 23:38:27 pm »
So after you spend money on these books, do your research, highlight pages, have a plan of attack, mentally prepare and try to adapt pu/pd method to your situation and then it doesnt go as book has suggested, where do go for help to try and implement it to your situation?

no good spending money on books if there is no help?

We'd love to help if we're able!  Can you give us some more information?  How old is your child?  What is their EASY?  What's your current bed time routine?  All this information can help us narrow down what can best improve your situation.

Hi and welcome to BW forums :)

where do go for help to try and implement it to your situation?
Right here!
As pp has said we'd love to help you :)
We have all come here looking for help in the past and have liked the place so much we've stuck around to pass on help and support to others.
I'm sure you'll find the forums helpful in supporting you with your individual needs. As you know from the books EASY is about responding to baby's cues and creating a flexible but predictable routine which suits the individual baby and needs of the family, rather than a strict schedule to adhere to.  The sample routines in the books are for guidance.
We can certainly help you with establishing an individual routine for your LO and to remove any props you are ready to tackle.

What is your main reason for using PU/PD just now? Is it to extend nap length? Remove nurse/rock to sleep prop? Or perhaps something else?

It would really help us to see the overall picture if you could post your EAS times exactly as they occur through a day, rather than the routine you hope for, and to make some brief notes about how LO settles to sleep, exactly when she wakes, what you do to try to resettle her, and her mood on waking and through the day.  So for instance if you are aiming for a nap at 9am your EAS might look like:
WU & E 7.00
A
8.45 began PU/PD, not settling so in the end nursed to sleep
S 9.25 - 9.55 woke, rocked back to sleep
S 10.20 - 10.50 wouldn't resettle with PU/PD or rocking
E 11.00
and so on...
please also include the times of any night waking and night feeds so we can see a full 24hrs and get a good idea of what is going on.

I'm sure you can appreciate that the times and notes you provide are really all we have to work with when supporting you.  Often we need to ask for further information so we can tailor advice to your specific circumstances and difficulties.

hope this helps

The thing to bear in mind is that the books are written in address general cases but the key message is that you need to listen to your own baby.  EASY is not a schedule to be followed, but rather a flexible routine which needs to be adapted to suit you and your baby. Tracy Hogg wasn't so keen on writing down routines, for example, as she felt that some parents might 'mis-read' them as something to aim for, to "achieve", rather than a guideline.

I see you've posted in NWs, but you haven't given us any information (yet) about what's going on at night. So when you're posting again, please tell us about that too.  Day-time and night-time sleep are closely related, so knowing how the day actually goes will be really helpful.

The last thing I need to say is that PU/PD is a method of last resort - you need to rule out any routine problems (over or undertired etc), feeding or discomfort issues, and so on.  It might be the right thing to do now, it might not, I don't know yet from the information we have.
10 Reasons You Cannot Use Pu/Pd

And this might also be helpful for you to read.
Pick Up/Put Down (PU/PD) - Everything you ever needed to know!

Rest assured we will all do what we can to assist.  But we will ask loads of questions!  It's in the nature of Baby Whispering - as you probably know from the book 'The Baby Whisperer Solve all Your Problems by Teaching You to Ask the Right Questions'. :)
