sleep gone wonky :'(
« on: April 01, 2015, 13:08:25 pm »
Really needing some help.
For the past 3 days my 30 mth ds is hysterical at nap and bedtimes. Did think sa but i work and is absolutely fine when i leave him. I'm currently trying wi/wo but its getting difficult as he's screaming before i even leave the room. He's had probs in the past with nw and ew but for about a year he's been fine. Any help would be very much appreciated.  ???

What is his routine hun?  Could it be his sleep needs are dropping so he needs a later or capped nap?

Could possibly be. His routine is normally
up at 7 (no leeway as i work)
Up to bed at 1.15 for nap until 2.30
In to bed for 7 & usually goes straight off.
on monday and thursdays he doesnt nap as he goes to playschool.

How does he do on NND?

I wonder if you push the nap even by 15mins if it will help?  My DS will be 3 next month and his naps are hit and miss, but it's usually 2pm if he takes one.  It does push BT back though.

Don't forget about half-birthday silliness too - may be a case of riding it out if routine tweaks don't help xx

We pushed nap half hour later and he still did the same. Part of me thinks do we scrap nap for a few days to se what happens. Hate hearing him calling for me to come back. Really pulls at your heart strings :'(

This is true too.  Things went really wonky with us at 2.5 but it sorted itself out.

Does he settle and nap eventually?  Can you APOP?  We went through a period at 2.5 too where I had to stay in his room with him to get him to nap, he just needed a little extra reassurance for whatever reason.

Was hoping to avoid apop as when dd was cutting the nap out i let her doze on the sofa. Then when it came to bedtime she wanted to sleep on sofa.
would it be too much to just cut nap and see what happens.

Its definitely to do with being under tired. He went to bed at 7 and straight off to sleep. The question now is what next. Wake up is not an issue at the moment as its easter hols so i'm not at work.

The 1-0 is always trial and error. While my DS does fine with some NND I'm not sure we could give the map op completely right now, he still uses it to catch up.  I would cony pushing the map back and capping it, and if you have NND then do an earlier bedtime so he doesn't accumulate too much OT.

Not sure whether it worked or not. No nap yesterday. Bed for 7 but up at quarter to 7 this morning so not even a 12 hour night. Will have to do nap today but not sure what time or for how long ???

That actually seems like an ok night.  My DS rarely does 12hrs on NND.  You might have to play it by ear, he might be tired enought at say 1pm because he didn't nap yesterday or he might not and you may need to push to 1:30 or 2.

Bit of a dilemma. Little man was up at 7 this morning he went up for his nap 15mins later than usual and we woke at normal time (2.30). We put him to bed at bt at 7.15 insted of 7 and he still played up. It was only for about 10 mins though. Yesterday was a nnd with bt at normal time. Do you think we should do every day a nnd and see how it goes.
