Switching from Neocate to WySoy
« on: April 18, 2015, 19:23:59 pm »
Hi

Saw the paediatrician today who I switched DS from Neocate to WySoy just to see how he gets on. DS is a terrible terrible sleeper! Anyone have any experience of WySoy?

Hey Hun, I think Neyssa theu.s.lees used soy with her kiddos. You could pm her if you need too.

Can I ask why the pead has made the switch?

Hi

Sorry for late reply - had lots going on. In the paeds letter we got yesterday he said 'try WySoy to see if this helps settle him' - not sure how though?

Made the switch yesterday doing 50:50 Neocate:WySoy as we were only prescribed one tin and can't get another until Monday! A tin lasts 2-3 days. Going to ask the GP for a few more tins at a time. We had 8 tins of neocate at a time. Last night wasn't great - he seemed windy which isn't like him but maybe that's just the switch of formula? He seems fine this morning.
We are also back on 20mg of omeprazole - paed recommended. Not sure what else to do

It might be to see if it is more palatable and by improving feeding/ diet overall he may be better. Obviously it shouldn't be assumed that there is soy intolerance, and it is around this age you would diet trial these things to confirm or discard the intolerance issue.

Sometimes their tummies just seem better on one for no reason. Just think of all the normal babies on all the many normal formulas

Yes - it does take an adjustment period for a formula switch.
