2years 8months old - EW's
« on: May 03, 2015, 06:42:40 am »
So I know it probably is getting to the time where her sleep needs are dropping a bit but she still just seems so tired. She used to WU at 7 now its anywhere from 5:40 - 6:30. When she is at home she still naps for 2 hours:

WU 6:00
S 1:30 - 3:30
BT 7:30

At the childminder she sleeps for around 25-40mins at 1:15, if I put her to bed early on these days 6pm she woke at 5:30, BT of 6:30 after a 25mins nap got me a  WU of 5:50

On home days she tells me she is tired and wants to go to bed. So where to start as I do think she still needs her sleep, push the nap out, cap it, later BT I'm just not sure as she is tired.

She goes straight to sleep for naps and BT never any messing around.

Hi Hun, we had this for ages and cut the nap to 1.5 hrs max and had DS up by 3pm latest or had no chance of decent night, then cut it to an hour after a few weeks. DS is 3 in 2 weeks as is pretty much on no nap now unless it's a quick 10/20 min CN. x

So keep the nap at 1:30 but wake her at 3? I could so do with a lie in (7  would be nice). Especially as dd2 is still keeping me up during the night. Just as I get her back down dd1 wakes up x

That's what I'd do especially as your not getting BT refusal. 7am is living the dream...my DS is a bit of an EW and it's tiring without another LO x

I know don't remember the last time I slept till 7. Remember the days we though 7was early.  I used to be able to get up at 8:15 and be at work for 9 (before children). Once they are teenagers we'll get a lie in .

So if she only naps for 25-40 mind at the cms would you bring BT forward. I was doing 6:30 and she slept no problem but still wakes early  x

Well I actually didn't cap her nap. So we had another 5:30 WU but I had been up from 4:30 and DD1 had a crappy first nap but that meant that her second nap would start an hour into DD1's nap. So I just let her have the 2hours and I had an sneaky 1hr nap. It was bliss. Today however I capped so we will see what the morning brings.

Do you ever do EBT if the nap is very short, or just always stick to 7:30 no matter what?

When we were starting the capping id of done an earlier BT prob only by 30 mins if nap was less than an hour but to be honest I always had to wake DS.
Do you think LO is getting ready for 1-0? xx

You always had to wake him in the morning, lucky you.

I'm not sure if she is ready for 1-0 she is around that age. I capped her nap yesterday so 1:30-3 then BT 7:30

WU today was 5:50 (I assume it might take a few days to work). At 1 o'clock she was crying and having a tantrum that she didn't want to nap she wanted to go play and was crying lots not shouting. This is usually tired for her, so I asked her if she was tired and she said "yes mummy I want you to carry me to my bed". The wee soul.

I'm hoping it will all balance out soon, she is at the CM's tomorrow and Thursday so she will probable only nap for 30-40mins so I guess they will be 7pm BT's or should I stick to 7:30 until her WU get's later?

She has always been an EW so I am happy if we get to 6:30, 6:45 would be lovely though x

Noooo sorry meant wake from naps....I wish in the morning lol.

Awhh bless her that's so cute  :)
I'd prob gauge how she's coping with BT and go in the middle or do an extra story to get an extra 10 mins or so. TBH I just did 13 hour days when DS was still napping up to 1.5 hours, once it got to 40 mins I'd then go for 12.5 hour days. DS was a 5.30 waker for ages so it wasn't realistic to get a 5.30pm BT with work so we had to just ride it out.x

So we are probably doing more of a 13.5/14hr day with a 1.5hr nap, and a 13hr day on a 25-45min nap so possibly she is getting tired.

Isn't it amazing how we think 6:20 is a good WU  ;D

Well DH told her on the phone that he was going to take her to visit her auntie when he got home from work so there was no convincing her otherwise after that. So BT will be 7:30,but I did get her to lie down on the sofa with a blanket over her waiting on DH coming home so she got a bit of a rest which will hopefully tide her over.

WU was 5:50 but she didn't nap at all at the CM's today. So I went for EBT 5:50 so 12hr day, do you think that was right?

I'm dreading it, I'm sure it will be a 5am WU and to add to it all I left DH with DD2 today while I got my semi permanent eyebrows done and he couldn't get her to nap so she was awake over 6hr before BT so it will be a long night for mummy tonight. He on the other hand is away for a nice game of golf.

5:50 WU so bang on 12hr night, however DD2 was  up from 3:30 - 5:37 so I only  got 13mins in bed. Shattered today.

So I'm sticking with 1:30 - 3 pm nap, is the next move to cap more or push the nap later so longer 1st A or earlier so longer to bed?

I'd keep it for a week or 2 and see what happens but then for us it was capping to an hour  from 1.30-2.30 but DS was evil when woke. So it soon became an out an about 40 min CN then no nap.

Oh my poor u that's horrific, I forget those long NW, is it teeth?

No just very ot. So hoping for a better night tonight.  I don't remember dd1 having this many nw 'so but you do forgot over time, and it's not as bad if you can go back to bed. But having 2 puts an end to that. Ah well it won't last forever.  It does scare me though when you read out people saying their baby had never sttn and they are 2 now.

1.5 hrs seems to be getting a 6ish wu. Think I'll stick with that for another week then move to 1hr. She still seems tired though. Today was a 50min nap at cm. Would you just keep BT to 7:30 x

I'd prob try bringing BT a bit earlier if nap is less than an hour, think we pretty much did a 6 Wu 45 min nap and 7pm BT for a good few weeks. If she's tired id go for a 12/12.5 hour day try and keep away OT x

Don't be sorry. It actually makes me feel better  knowing it might just pass. We're at 2 years 9 month now so hopefully only 1 more to go. Anyway I'm getting used to walking around like a zombie, with bags under my eyes, broken out skin and generally being ratty all the time. So just image how I'll feel when she starts sleeping later and dd2 sleeps through the night. I'll be flying  ;D xx

We are firmly on no nap now and things are much more stable, can't believe my DS is 3yrs old next week and I'm waiting for the birthday shenanigans to start!!

Fingers crossed for 6am Wu xx

Would you believe this. Yesterday I was shattered as DD2 kept me up all nigh but thankfully their naps were going to overlap for a change. So I was supposed to wake DD1 after 1.5hrs but I fell asleep so it was 2 hours. I was prepared for a nice EW but she slept until 6:30 this morning  ;D

However she has not napped at all today at the CM's do you think 6:30 BT or later, CM says she looks shattered.
