almost 3 year old gone crazy at bed time
« on: May 06, 2015, 07:36:28 am »
My little boy will turn 3 at the end of August.
He has not had a nap for a while (maybe 6 months) and is usually in bed by 6:30 7 pm every night.Sleeps very well.
For the past week he is fighting bed time he says he doesn't want to sleep and cries. He is very tired.

I can remember, is there a regression at this age or would you know what is going on.The only thing I can think that it is changed he no longer wants his bottle (that used to relax him).Any ideas???

Thank you

Have you tried an early bedtime if you think he is more tired than usual?

Can you change BT routine up, I know sometimes when DD has needed an early/quick BT we have done a shower 'as a treat' instead of a bath?  Then you could get him down before his brother gets in the bath?

thank you for your answers :)
I will give it a try but I think it would really mess up his routine ie:dinner all together at 6,bath 6:30,books 6:50 to 7 bed for both.He has always wanted to go to bed.I really don't get it

Whenever we have bedtime silliness it usually comes down to overstimulation/overtiredness, illness, or needing some more connection/Mummy time.  It comes and goes in phases here, I know that's not much help but wanted to reassure you that bedtime isn't ruined forever :) maybe you could just give EBT a go as a one-off?  Early dinner for everyone?  Sometimes they just need it that one time to catch up.  Or if you don't think it's that, then the other thing that helps here is being completely solid about 'the rules', whatever they are.  Here it is 3 books, a song and then lights out.  Any messing, we say goodnight and leave.  DD will then usually call me back in but that's the end of the nonsense.

Just as another thought - do you use blackouts?  Any chance the seasons changing may be having an effect?

We are in NZ so it's dark outside now :).
Today we did lots of playing and I asked him a few questions.Discovered that he did not like the way I moved his bed (have just rearranged his room) so I put it in the spot he asked me and guess what?? No dramas!!!! I can't believe it :)
