Hello,
My question is in regards to the multiple night wakings my 5 mo son has. He hasn't been a very good sleeper from the get-go, which is the opposite of my older DD, so I'm at a little bit of a loss as to how to handle it.
Because of my 3.5 yo DD, I haven't been able to get him on as much of a schedule as I did with her. Trips to/from school, swim lessons, etc often prevent us from any solid morning nap schedule, but I do try my hardest when we have the opportunity to put him down in his crib.
His schedule looks something like this:
Wake 6:45-7am
Morning nap (begins) 8:30-9:15am and sleeps for about an hour
Afternoon nap (begins) 12:30-1pm and sleeps for about an hour and a half often with one wake in the middle in which he settles himself
Evening nap (begins) 4-4:430 and sleeps for about 30-40 mins
Bed 6:45-7pm
Then the trouble starts...
First wake is usually between 10-11pm and I often feed him in hopes that he will then give me a good long stretch, but that doesn't usually happen.
Next wake is usually between 1-2am. Feed and back to sleep
Early morning wake between 4-5am. Feed and back to sleep
Wake for the day 6:45-7.
We had a short span of time where he would put himself back to sleep after crying for about 5 minutes, but that has stopped. He won't go to sleep for my husband at all, so all the burden lays on me.
He is exclusively breastfed and we are just starting solids this week with him. I'm hoping maybe the additional calories will help push him towards a longer sleep in the beginning of the night???
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Cara
