What time of the day for a single nap?
« on: May 13, 2015, 23:17:02 pm »
(Posted in the 2-1 support thread but thought I might get some others who have gone beyond that 2-1 transition that might not check that thread anymore).

What time of the day should I be aiming for, for that single nap?  I know it "depends on the individual child" but was trying to do some maths and be practical too...

Approx
6.30 am WU
6.30 pm BT

You'd think 12.30 would be the appropriate time but what an annoying time for baby to have her nap (amiright?  So much stuff happens around here for lunchtime including me occasionally needing to meet friends for lunch to save my sanity :) ).

(13 month old)

I guess I had 1 or 1.30pm in my head as being the eventual goal but if she slept 2 hours would a 3.30 pm wake up be detrimental to successful BT?

How long does she nap for?
At that age my DS1 would have done 11.30-2.30 with a 6.30 WU but he was high sleep needs.

My ds2 was still on two naps until 15mo but when he moved to one nap it was usually 12.30-2.30 or 3ish. I run a play group which was then 3 days a week and so on those days he would usually nap after it from 2.30-4 which was too late really and I had to wake him. After the long A time in the morning and the shorter nap he would go to bed at 8pm (7.30 was our usual BT).

Any chance you could push BT and WU a bit later if you prefer a later nap?

She is napping anywhere between 1.5-2.5hrs for her current morning nap.

I think I will just settle at 12.30 because the BT and WU times do work for us :)

Thanks heaps for the suggestions and advice!

You can always have the nap a bit later as a one off if you do want to meet a friend for lunch or whatever. Or will she sleep in the buggy maybe?

She isn't much of a buggy sleeper but I think best to play these things by ear.. gee I overthink things sometimes!  Thanks for listening to my uncertainties from my overthinking!

No worries! That's what this forum is all about, sounding things out with like-minded people I think ;)
