Want to start a dream feed! Advice needed
« on: May 27, 2015, 16:43:34 pm »
My dd who is 12 weeks goes to bed 9 wakes up at 3 to feed then naps for 45min to 1 hour which Id like her to go longer to 6/7am . Someone said to me try a dream
Feed id like to start it in 2 nights but have a few questions..
She has 5/6 ounces before bed how many shall I give her at df, 4/5?
Also should I wait 3 hours from bedtime or longer ?
Should u burp her aswell in between or jus after ?
Shall I change her nappy if not needed?
What if she wakes up and doesn't go back to sleep ? And how many nights should I try this to see if it works I don't want to mess up her sleep routine xx thanks xx

Honey - it would be great to see your routine, but maybe you are already getting some help re routine on sleep boards. Her going to bed at 9pm might be a reason for being OT and frequent wakings.

Answer to your questions:
She has 5/6 ounces before bed how many shall I give her at df, 4/5?
- as much as she needs
Also should I wait 3 hours from bedtime or longer ?
usually it should be around 3-4h after BT, but no later than 11pm - this is based on assumptions of 7/7:30pm BT
after 3 months it's good to go for earlier bedtime as kids usually won't sleep longer then till7/8am and with a late BT their nights are a bit short and OT
Should u burp her aswell in between or jus after ?
there is no need if it was a true dreamfeed; i haven't
Shall I change her nappy if not needed?
if not needed, no you dont have to; i haven't
What if she wakes up and doesn't go back to sleep ? And how many nights should I try this to see if it works I don't want to mess up her sleep routine
- if she wakes, let her self settle or try to resettle
- at least a week to see if it helps
