1-0. What next?
« on: June 02, 2015, 20:00:25 pm »
We were doing quite well with the nap capping but we've come unstuck this week with BT becoming some silly hour of 9pm (tonight was 8.30 so slightly better)

Routine is roughly this and has had a 30/40 min nap for quite a while now.

Wu 6
Nap 12.30/1for 40 mins (cm always does nap at this time)
BT was 7ish (last night was 9pm)
NW 3am

Today she then slept until 7am
Nap 12.30/1 - 40 mins (has to be woken)
BT asleep 8.30

I think this is a sign that we need to make a change but I'm not sure what's best now?

I could constantly cap at 30 mins but not sure 10 mins will make much difference? Should add here that she hates being woken, can be quite a challenge and can be pretty grumpy or upset for a good 30/45 mins.

We've had the odd nnd and can try some more of these on days she's at home but as soon as we go anywhere in the car or buggy she will fall asleep.

Any suggestions please ladies, I'd like my evenings back!
Lauren

You could alternate (short) nap days with no nap days?

I always found DS easier to rouse round and then not be grumpy if it was a car nap or buggy nap. Like Anna says alternating is a good way to start too, this happened quite a lot for us at start of 1-0. My DS hated being woken so we quickly progressed to max 20 min nap as not into deep sleep by then and EBT. xx

Ok can definitely try a 20min car nap on the days she's home with me and see how that goes. If not I will try some more nnd and will just have to stay at home otherwise she'll fall asleep in the car or buggy!

Maybe if we have several short nap days in a row she might go down easier on the days she's with the cm and sleeps for longer.

Thanks ladies
Lauren

So thur - sun were great. 30 min nap working a treat and we've had between 10.45 and 12.5hrs!!!! ons and falling asleep within 15 mins.
Today back at the cm where I ask her to do 30 min nap. When I pick her up she says sorry I think she had closer to 40 mins in the end.... And guess what, it's 8.15 and she's still not asleep  ::)

Grrrr to the childminder and how can 10 mins more sleep cause this much disruption?!. It's unbelievable!

Can she do a no nap day on some of the cm days? That's what we did and the other kids just kept him going until pickup.

Yeh my baby girl was the same. I had to be super strict with the CM and ended up telling her not to give naps at all.

So a 30min nap the past two days haven't helped the BT situation and she's still taking 1-1.5hrs to fall asleep.
Think we will have to go for NND and see how BT goes with that. Shall I start with NND and then next day 30 mins? Not sure how we will manage the NND though as she's guaranteed to nod off in the car or buggy in the afternoon.

Its hard to begin with but they do get used to not napping. Especialy if you can avoid the car or buggy at around nap time to begin with.

I shall give it a go! Days she's with the cm they have to do the school run about 2.30 in the buggy so will have to see how that works out.

Roll on the end of naps (only for baby no2 to be born and to start the whole process again  :P)
