I would do so. But try to keep the same BT of 8pm even if you don't cap the nap. If he will mess for a longer spell and finally goes to sleep past 8pm, it would means that he clearly needs more A after his nap.

Would shifting it 15 mins to start with work?

7wu
12.45nap-
8bt

And then shifting to 1 if it doesnt help shifting wu.

Generally 5.30-6A in the morninh is good for him he went for a nap Ot today as was up early.

Im just worried about shortening his night as well, so i will stick to 8pm bt, although i have a feeling he wont settle until a bit later. I guess we shall see

Do kids ever stay consistent for a period of time, it seems its always something doesn't it.

So we got over the long Bt nonsense, only to find ourselves a week later in the same boat. Yesterday it took me 45 mins to get him off to sleep, its crazy and has been like this for the past 4 nights! So i cut down his daytime sleep a bit more, surely thats the problem! So today was

7wu
12.40-2 nap
8BT

I started bt a bit earlier, just to make sure that he is nice and calm we read books in his room, no silly games.
So he goes into his cot at 7.50 and lies there quietly yawning his head off, and im thinking i won!  He gets up a couple of time asking for a different duvet, so i change it because he is right and he needs a thin summer one :). And then he falls asleep at 8pm!
And u make myself a drink and get comfortable and he wakes at 8.30 crying!  In just at loss now!

Help us!

He will be 20 months in 5 days...apparently he settled absolutely fine yesterday and thats after a failry long sleep during the day, as we were deiving for a bit he had 12.20-2 and settled at 7.50 for BT and woke around 2.30am and then slept untik 6.40. Go figure then..... I feel cruel cutting down on his daytime sleep when he settled so well for the night.

Thats the thing there is just no pattern and im 37 weeks pregnant and my brain is just not functioning properly to even adjust hos routine to make things work.

Went to bed at 7.45 yesterday, cried out briefly after an hour, then slept until 3am and then took him into our bed and he was up at 5.40! Put him for his nap at 12.15, he was exhausted and barely standing up, not sure how he lasted until then tbh. Woke at 2pm and today in bed by 7.45 and now up and crying. So if we avoid the lengthy BT battles we have this nonsense an hour or so after BT, and i cant figure out is he OT Ut, does he need nap cutting down or earlier BT.....

Hugs u must be tired. Any teeth moving about?
I'd probably try an Earlier BT if he's up at 5.40 is try 7pm to be asleep at latest then you rule out OT x

Hi Zoe, im pretty exhausted and have a trapped nerve in my lower back which makes it difficult to get by day to day, its my brain that isnt functioning and im just getting frustrated with myself that i can figure it out.

So would u say 7wu
12.30nap-2
I dont think he will settle for 7pm, but coukd certainly try 7.20-7.30 tomorrow.

Ocassionaly he does sleep longer that 2pm, but i never know if i shud let him or not.

Oh bless you sounds so tough, sometimes we can't figure these lo's out and all the messing just passes...we did have sleep messing at this age and I never did work it out...put it down to molars, and coming up to birthday developements!

Yeah looks good, if he has a longer nap you could shift BT a bit later etc. xx

Oh its not really getting better, not the BT or my back for that matter.

Woke up late today

7.30
12.30-2nap
Didn't settle until 8.25 and up crying at 9.10

This just isnt fun.

The thing is if i ask him if its time to go to bed he says yes and kisses daddy night and his toys and goes i to his cot and the. The messing about starts and i just dont k iw what to do, how to adjust his day so we dont have this 30-45 mins of messing about.

The thing is he behaves very similar when he is ut or ot, he doesnt cry he just messes around.
Its 8.15 and he is finally asleep, again we started BT at 7.45, so 30 minutes of messing around, getting up, calling for me, calling daddy, moving pillows, taking his nappy off, anything not to sleep and now he is out!

Generally he wouldvwake around 3 sometime later but with this messing around he usually has another waking, so he was up at 10pm, just needed to be put back down and he is out again.
