2.5 nap dropping and long nw
« on: June 04, 2015, 19:20:19 pm »
Hey ladies,
I'm after your thoughts please for T. He is currently doing this most days
WU 6-7
Nap 1.45-2.45 ish
Bt 7-7.30

He can quite easily do NND no problem BUT comes approx 10pm we have restless sleep or long nw for hrs. OT I know :(

Yesterday was WU 7
Bt 5.50 and straight to sleep.
At 1 the nw started and I don't think he really slept properly till 1.30 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 I don't know how we're going to survive the drop in nap really. He is SO absolutely fine all day, he hides OT well.

Any thoughts? He fights his nap, and days are getting long but after a NND we gets 3-4 good days of napping and nights

Really, ot? How much sleep do you think he needs?

Things will settle better if you can move to NNDs more consistently asap, because all the chopping and changing makes his body a bit confused. How many NNDs a week is he on atm?

Well he sleeps fine with the nap other than fighting it - and having a long day. Go for a NND and he is up for hours wired so pretty sure its OT ??? Maybe I'm wrong but when Z dropped and did NND he STTN 13.5 hours and we didnt have insane NW.

Today he napped 1.5hrs and was nackered. Ill go for usual BT and what he seems to do is be tired for 3- days following the NND. Then back toeing kind of borderline.

We have only done a few NND in the last 2 weeks. We tried one around Xmas (accidental really) and had the same long NW rubbish so I put it off till now.
I dunno....

Maybe try moving the nap later and then waking him at the same time, then? That way he'll have less day sleep but be happier to nap.

DD is older but is doing exactly the same- had been for a few months.
Skips nap, copes well, may be a bit of a tantrum at bedtime but asleep quickly- then a long OT night wakening just as you describe.
After nap days she falls asleep late at bedtime or wakes early the following morning but doesn't have NWs.
So I am still trying to work out what to do..
Sometimes I simply can't make her nap.
Also after NWs she sleeps in a bit so her day becomes may be 11 hrs instead of usual 13.
So not sure what to do- nap capping not working out too well.
Its a mess!

Hi hon

Does he tack onto sleep? When dd dropped the nap (suddenly at 2.5yo after napping 2-3h and Sttn!) we had dropped to a 20 min cn. When that was causing silly bt and nws cos of late bt and accumulated ot we went CT to nnds. She's HSN so I kept days to 10/10.5h and she pulled 14/15 h nights! I remember sometimes but was 4.45!

Maria, I think we're in the horrible 'in between' phase where nothing works for long. 😫

Aishi, I nthe past yes he tacks on. But so far with NND he doesn't as the 3 hr long nw takes away from his total sleep for the night. I wonder if I need to go earlier? It's hard with both boys though and unlike Z who showed tired signs, and is good at winding himself down. T is full throttle till bt.

Currently we are doing WU 6.30-7
Nap 1.45/2 for 1 hr max
Bt 7.30 for most days. But we get mixed nights, some EW and battles at nap time

Next week DH is away so I'll stick with this but wondering if I just need that NND to be shorter... Like 5/5.30 pm bt?

That worked really well for us. 10/10.5h days max. You could try it and see? Maybe after a few nnds if wu is too early he may be tired enough for a nap and later bt x

Ok I'll report back ;) I'm not going to do any nnd this week unless I get nap refusals as DH is away all week till Sunday. I don't think I can deal with the 3 hr nw on my own lol.
