7mo early waking
« on: June 07, 2015, 06:00:39 am »
My 7month lb is an early waker & I'd really like to try and change this!

He has 3x210ml a day & 3 meals.

Typically naps.. 9.30-11 & 2.30-4 ish. Bedtime 7.

He was napping at 9 but have been pushing this forward over last few days (as suggested in FAQ board) but he's been waking earlier!!

Last 2 days he's woken at 5. He's been happy enough for 25 mins and then upset. With our version of pat shh (in my bed after trying long time in cot then giving up!) after a bit of sick he's gone back to sleep at 6.15ish for 45mins. I'm wondering if it's the sick/wind waking him? I burp him LOADS at night but since food he's quite a sicky baby now.

Blackout blinds. Front sleeper. Has dummy just for getting to sleep. Doesn't tend to have night wakings unless ill.

Please help! Thanks

Hi there. How much solids is he getting? Maybe you could cut out the afternoon/evening meal if it is troubling him at night. Do you bring him into your bed every night?

I would def cut back solids rather than cut back milk :/

So could you give us an EASY breakdown of a typical day including the EWs? Is he an independent sleeper? Any noises going on that could be waking him? Does he go back to sleep when you bring him in with you?

Hi thanks for reply.

He doesn't tend to go back to sleep in my bed. By 6.20 I have given up on sleep & he just lies there while I try & snooze! Often I'll give him simple toy to entertain him

To get to sleep he has dummy & 2/3 mins of shh pat.

His day yesterday was:

A 6.30 (he'd been up for few hours in night so had a later waking)
E 7 (breakfast & 240ml)
S 9.20-10.50
E 12 lunch & 240ml
S 1.20-3.20 (resettled once after 45 mins)
E 4.30 tea
E 6.30 240ml
S 7
A 5am - currently he's just rolling round in his cot and chatting

His sister had woken at 4.30am crying in next room (sorting her emw is in a separate thread!!)

Any tips?!

Thanks

Btw we've always started the day at 7. Until then it's dark & quiet.
Should we just start day from 6??!
He seems totally wide awake

Well, I guess it depends what is a reasonable wake up time for you? It is true some babies never really sleep 12 hours. For me, 6am is just too early. I don't think we can draw any conclusions about routine if his sister wakes him up :/

I would probably try pushing both his morning nap and his pm nap a little later so that he is getting a little more A time.

Ok, have tried to stretch out his naps - he's not happy about it & tend to have to walk round with him for last 10 mins. To get to sleep he has dummy & about 2 mins shh/pat.

Here is our last few days, still too blooming early!! Any tips please??

Wu 5.20
S 6 (in bed with me)
Breakfast & 240 milk
S 9.45-11.15
Lunch & 240 milk
S 2-2.45 (couldn't resettle)
Tea
6.15 milk
S 7 very over tired

Wu 5.30
S 6.15 (had to rock)
A 7
Breakfast & 240milk
S 10-11.30
Lunch & 240 milk
S 2.10-3.30 (had to resete after 45 mins)
Tea
6.30 240 milk & fell asleep on bottle

Wu 5.30
Tried to get him back to sleep but couldn't. He's just been crying on/off

Average A times- BOOKMARK ME!
If you have a look here you can see he is still on the low end for A times for his age. You're sure this isn't a prop issue, he doesn't go back to sleep with his dummy? TBH if he went to sleep at 6.30pm, a 5.30am waking isn't really unreasonable (I know this isn't the norm, though).
