Can I fix this?
« on: June 13, 2015, 18:32:26 pm »
Hi.. I'm new here and would love some advice.
My son is 23 months and his routine goes like tthis

wakes at 5.10 he cries out and sometimes just whinges til 5.30 or later I as I leave him as long as poss.
Breakfast at 7 which he wolf's down
Activity at 9 but if it's a way in the car he falls asleep very easily so I stick to short journeys
home at 11.45 for lunch but he's shattered so doesn't eat  much.
Naps from 12 until 2 no issues with going to sleep but wakes crying
2pm healthy snack and drink of milk
3pm school run
5pm tea.. eats a bit some days more than others
6.30  start winding down with a story and milk then I used to be able to just leave but now he sobs for me..
I just sit quietly til he settles whis isn't too long 30 mins max.
Asleep by 7.30 / 8pm at the latest
How can I tweak his routine so he sleeps later. 6 am would do!! Does his routine sound ok or would you  change anything else.
Thanks in advance  :)

My DS2 has been an early riser since a toddler & he was a LSN so it did improve a bit when he dropped his nap but even at 10yo 5.45 is his norm with a 9.30 bedtime, fortunately he reads in bed, so that's not much help But I know with DS1 that falling asleep at 9am (because I had a long drive to get him to daycare/work) was only got rid of by an earlier daytime nap & a shorter one. With DS1 if I did a 1hour nap from  before noon, he tended to sleep from 7.30-6.30, but if he had a 1hour nap from 1pm then he'd wake earlier & also if I did it longer he'd wake earlier too, so maybe try an earlier day nap & even though it is counter intuitive, earlier bedtime so that light sleep cycle that he is waking up with at 5am actually is more like 4.30 & he may roll into another cycle so he wakes later.
