1 year terrible NWs and day naps
« on: July 04, 2015, 14:32:57 pm »
NEED HELP!!
My daughter will be 1 year old at the end of this month, I started pd-pu when she was 8 mos, and it worked well at first,
7:00 wake up
7:30 breastfeeding
9:00 nap
10:15 wake up, get some fruits
11:30 lunch+beastfeeding
13:30 nap
15:00 wake up, fruits
18:00 dinner
19:00 bath
19:30 beastfeeding
19:45 sleep (usually 2 NWs)

it's not good for a 10 mo baby, but now it's even worse......
7:00 wake up (sometimes 6:30)
7:30 breastfeeding
play (usually have sleep sign around 8:30, but very hard to fall asleep)
9:30 fruits
10:00 breastfeeding
11:45 lunch + breastfeeding
12:30 fall asleep during nursing
14:30 wake up and play
15:00 breastfeeding
16:00 fruits
17:30 breastfeeding
19:00 dinner
19:30 bath
20:00 sleep pd-pu
(21:00,22:00,23:00,00:00,2:00,4:00,6:00....frequent wake-ups!!!)

since she's able to stand up by herself, every time i try PDPU, she sit up and stand up, if i try more times, then she'll cry badly! freak me out!
anyone who can give me some advice??

Welcome to BW, hope you find the support you need here!

Is the second one of these her current routine? Since when has she been on one nap? I'm wondering if she maybe still needs two naps.  She seems to have jumped rather quickly from two naps (and short A times) to long A times and one nap. A lot of babies will have one short nap in the morning for a long time, sometimes VERY short.

I would say the issue here is routine, and as such, it's not something PU/PD will resolve (see here:
10 Reasons You Cannot Use Pu/Pd

also I would say at this age if she is able to stand up on her own, then don't "put" her back down, ask her to get back down herself by patting the mattress and so on.  That may reduce the stress all round.

pat
Thanks a lot!
she's been on one nap since 11th month, only 10 days till now. I also think she still need two naps, but she's just too difficult to fall asleep, it seems like she like standing more than sleeping....and every time when I try to get her down, she stand up ,staring and pointing at the door....
If I know this forum earlier, my daughter's sleep would have been better than now.

Well some mamas find that they need to do some 1 nap days and some 2 nap days for a while.  Maybe that would work for you?

On days you're doing one nap, I would bring bedtime much earlier, maybe even 17h30? It might take some trial and error to find the right time, but I think you'll find that would help her.

Meanwhile... you might like to have a look here:

Night sleep usually follow day sleep so with any luck if her day sleep improves, she'll do better at night.  Hope so!
