6 Month Old Suddenly Doesn't Nap
« on: June 21, 2015, 20:36:38 pm »
Our 6 month old Daughter, Mackenzie, has successfully been on an EASY schedule since 3 months.  She typically naps 1.5-2 hours twice a day with a catnap around 4pm.  Mackenzie’s activity times are typically 1.75 – 2 hours.

For the last 4 days she has suddenly not been able to nap unless she is on us or eats first.

Mackenzie still sleeps well at night, NO dream feeds, with typically one wake up somewhere from1am to 5am where she will take 4.5-5.5oz of pumped breast milk or formula.

Mackenzie has her first two teeth and has had a cough for a couple of weeks, both of which hasn’t seemed to change her mood or affected her night sleep.

Is this a wonder week stormy period, 6 month growth spurt, or is there something else we should try?

Thanks for the help.

Hi there

I'd say she is UT At sleep times as her A times are quite low for 6 months.

Average A times- BOOKMARK ME!

I think you are at a stage of increasing your A times and working on dropping your catnap And having just your two long naps per day. I'd think that will get you guys back on track

HTH x

Yes, I completely agree with Shiv. Her A times would definitely need a bump. I found A times moving up very quickly between 5 & 6 months. At 5 months, we moved to 2.5 hours after naps shortened and by 6 months, we were already on 3.20 A. Crazy! Have a look at this link about the 3-2 transition
All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

Hi Shiv52 & newkidontheblock,

You guys were right! We upped Mackenzie's A to 2:45 - 3:00 and she no longer fights her naps.  She's also been able to nap 40 mins to 2 hours now! Most days, she'll get a quick catnap. She's still sleeping through the night  :)

Thank you so much for your input!!
