45 min naps for 5 mo old
« on: June 30, 2015, 15:59:55 pm »
Hi, we try to do a 4 hour EASY but we're still struggling with it.  Last week family was in town and she got loads of attention so this week she's adjusting from that.  She slept great last week and even started really STTN by the end of the week from the dream feed at 10:00 until about 6:00 or 7:00!
Yesterday she took 4 - 45 min naps + a 20 min nap in the stroller.  I try for 3 naps a day.

Today has gone like this so far:
6:00 E
still tired after eating so went back to sleep from about 6:30-8:45
8:45 A
10:00 E
10:20 A
10:45 S
11:30 A (yawning, so trying nap again now)
11:50 down for nap, it's 12:00 now and looks like she might be back to sleep

Any advice on how to extend naps would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Sleepy cues can get unreliable at this age hun. Yawning could be boredom and need a change of scenery, thirsty, hungry et cetc.

You need to keep one eye on the clock too really. Many 5mo are averaging 2-2.5hrs so it could be time for a slight push in A times. Wdyt? 15mims might make all the difference. I too had a 45mins napper, it was hell so I feel your pain. Pushing the A times really helped us as did w2s, but I think if you try the increase first, we can take it from there.

Average A times- BOOKMARK ME!

Thanks, that is good to know.  She actually ended up taking a 2 hour nap after I put her back down!  But, I will try pushing the A time.  I understand w2s is wake to sleep but not quite sure what that means.

Well it looks like she's capable of a long nap, excellent! Have a go with the A time, if that doesn't work I'll bamboozle you with all the w2s info  ;). Keep me updated ok? X
