Past few days have been going well. DD wakes after 6am and doing 3 hrs A time. We have transitioned to two naps that are 1.5 to 2 hrs long. But DD is having a hard time falling asleep at bedtime. Takes her almost 50 mins to fall asleep by herself. Any suggestions to help her settle sooner?

Our EASY today:

6:10am wake up
7:00am eat
9:15am nap for 1 hr 25 mins
10:40am wake up
11:00am eat
1:40pm nap for 2 hrs
3:40pm wake up
4:30pm eat
6:40pm bedtime, put in crib awake
7:30pm finally fell asleep

Our wind down is about 20mins which includes 5 min bath diaper change, put on pjs, read 2-3 books. Lights dimmed, curtains drawn, white noise.

TIA!

Are you having any problems with NWs?  Does she seem well-rested?  If so I wouldn't worry that she is taking a while to go off to sleep, some LOs do just take longer to settle at times, especially if they are going through developmental leaps.  If however you are getting issues with NWs or she seems tired, I'd try a 15 mins earlier BT in the first instance, and if that doesn't help/makes things worse maybe try 15 mins later instead and see if that helps her settle more easily.   Are you needing to go in to her during that settling time!  What is she doing?

Thx for replying .  She wakes up early around 5:20 am like usual so no middle of night wakings. Usually she isn't tired but for the first time today she fell asleep at 7:30am so only 2 hrs of A time :(

When she takes over 40 min to settle at bed time she is rolling and babble until OT and then she starts whimpering and then mantra cry until she fell asleep. If she is crying hard then I go In stroke her and say it is sleepy time for 1 min and I leave and I repeat this until she falls asleep.

The other day she fell asleep within 10 mins with no fussing  and slept until 7am. First time ever she slept 11 hrs! I try to recreate a relaxing wind down to help her but no luck. I notice when she settles to sleep faster with no fussing then she sleeps better and longer but I don't know how to get her to settle sooner at bedtime.

Hi! Thanks for checking in! Really appreciate it.

It has been hard, DD still wakes up at 5am even after the 3-2 transition, Yesterday she woke up at 4:30 in and  didn't fall back to sleep on her own. So I got her up a 6am. I didn't want to put her fo bed  before 7pm because she sleeps only 10 hr. so I gave her a catnap and she fell asleep at 7:35pm with no fussing. She  looked so tired though.

I am pushing out A time again today. But not sure how to tweak her routine since she only sleeps 9.5 - 10 hrs a day.  Do I keep 7:30pm as the bedtime no matter when she wakes in the morning? Today she woke at 5 am. I worry if I put her to bed latest 6:30pm then she'll walk at 4:30am, 10 hrs later :( so I held and rock her back to sleep. Took 30 mins to get her back to sleep and she slept for 1 hr before I woke her up as it  was 7:00am. Does this mean she was still tired and needs more sleep since she can sleep for another hour this morning?

What do people do when their babies don't sleep 11 - 12 hrs and what is their EASY like?

Thx! Really hope I can get some help figuring her EASY When she only sleeps 10hrs.

Do you mean she only sleeps 9.5-10h a night?  That really does sound like massive overtiredness to me unless she is having really excessive amounts of daytime sleep.  I know it's scary but I think some seriously early bedtimes may be needed to get you out of a bad cycle.  Did you want to post how the routine is looking right now and I'll see if I can help?  I would have thought 10.5-11h is really a minimum amount of night sleep to be aiming for, so sounds like some routine tweaks may benefit you both x

Hi jessmum,

Yes, she wakes up after sleeping  9.5 to 10hrs. I posted in another thread regarding shifting DD's schedule since it isn't about 3-2 transition anymore. Kelly is helping me in that thread Please chime in if you have other suggestions. DD's most recent EASY is also posted there. Here's the link to that conversation:

 How to shift baby's schedule?

Thanks so much!
