This has been a mystery since she was 2 months old (She is now 7 mos).  Every once in a while she would fell asleep by herself in crib (with a few cries or shu-pat) but every time she would wake up at the 45 min mark vs if she fell asleep in my arms she will sleep for at least 1 hour. Why?

Yesterday when I let her fell asleep in my arms for nap:
E 7:00
E 8:00 solid
S 9:50-11:30

E 11:30
E 1:20 snack and some sip of water
S 2:15-3:10

E 4:00
E 5:30 solid
E 6:30
S 6:45

NW 9:40 (Seems wide awake, plus she didn't eat much throughout the day, so I nursed her back to sleep)
NW 3:15 (pupd 3)
NW 3:50 (pupd 1)

Today:
E 6:00 (back to sleep after nursing)
WU 7:15
E 8:30 (bf)
S 10:05 (rocked to eyes closed, eyes were open when I put her down to crib. Fussed a bit and fell asleep by herself)-10:47

E 11:00

Hi there. I think you need to raise her A times a bit. They are on the lower end for a 7 mo. I don't think it's fair to compare independent sleep with holding to sleep yk? It is so warm, comforting and relaxing to be held that of course they sleep more (some babies - others don't sleep with Apop) Moving to a more appropriate A time should help lengthen naps and you can also try Wake2 sleep and a few others ways to get past the 45 minute mark. You can read through the sleep FAQs, and I'll also post the links for you tomorrow. (It's 4am and DDs having a NW)

Great! Keep me posted on how it goes. I'll take a look at your other post too. The two might be linked
