Oh well like you say nice for the one day  ;)

I would probably stick to 7pm for couple of days and if still EWU before 6pm but decent naps of 2h+ I would start capping. WDYT?

Yeah- i reckon nap capping is needed. 3 hours is a long nap.

For a 7pm BT, I would need to wake E by 2. Since you also want him to catch up on OT, it would be great if you could let him have a long nap for a bit. Is DH not willing for a 7.30 BT for a few days?

Up and down.....I think some nap-capping may be needed but not quite sure how much really as it's currently only nursery he's pulling the long naps, home naps are shorter and/or broken.  In general though a longer nap does seem to lead to a shorter night/earlier WU.

Can I post a few days for thoughts? So following on from the day of the long nap it's been:

1/8 WU 5.35
CN 9-9.15 (fell asleep in car)
Nap 11.45-13.25
BT 7

2/8 WU 5.45 but resettled to 6.10
Nap 11.45-13.45 (2x resettles)
BT 7

3/8 WU 6
Nap 11.45-13.10 tried resettle, had maybe 10 more mins
BT 6.30 as shattered
Unsettled evening and around 4.45am but self-settled

4/8 WU 6.10
Nap 11.50-14.15 (nursery)
BT 7.05

5/8 WU 5.35
Nap 11.45-14.00 (nursery)
BT 7

6/8 WU 5.45
Nap 11.45-13.30 (2x resettles)
BT 7

So longest night was after the shortest nap, ~1h30 on a 12.5h day.  It was unsettled but WU was later.  The longer naps (over 2h) gave a 10h30-45 night which then leads to a cranky boy with either a broken nap or falling asleep in the car mid-morning.  I guess if he follows the pattern we've been having then WU should be a bit later tomorrow.

I think I need to get nursery to cap his nap.....what do you think?  Ugh I hate nap capping!

Yeah, I agree, it sounds like a bit of capping is in order.... I know, I hate it too.  How about moving his nap to 12 and then letting him sleep til 1.45? Or do you think he'd manage on 1.5hrs? I'm wondering if A til bed is also a factor as I think it's also the days he had less than 5hr 15 A til bed which caused the earlier WU, though that only happened on long nap days so it's hard to tell!

^^ yes exactly. It does seem that you are having better nights when his nap isn't too long and when there is a sizeable A to bed. I've been sticking to 5 hours A to bed with E for ages now

Arghhhhh just checking in for a moan ::) it's like one step forwards and ten back again  >:( >:( stupid illness, canines, general me being incompetent ::) I hate 5.30am!!!!!!

Ahem....I mean, I have a question ;) Those for whom EBT didn't work all that well, how did you find it best to catch up on OT?  Very grumpy boy right now, sure teeth are a factor but not the whole story.  Is it worth me trying an early nap do you think?  (Bit scared of a looooong afternoon if he doesn't do a great nap) Or a two nap day?  He's had a few of those in the last week or so as he will doze off in the car very easily around 9.30am, we wake him after 15 mins and go for normal nap time/15 mins later.  But not sure he's much more rested those days though his nap seems more settled.

Or do I need to wait it out until this last canine has cut and re-evaluate???

Oh Katherine, not much of advice but just wanted to say canines are awful. We are having wakings between 5 and 7am for two weeks almost but usually we managed to resettle or he resettles himself. Still is a much grumpier baby than usual.

Frankly speaking, I wouldn't change the routine much with canines going but maybe could you offer his nap a tad earlier than normal instead of two naps?

We let the am nap go on for as long as possible. As you know, we are still going by A times but now nap is mostly set at 1.30pm because she's waking later.  DH says sometimes she falls asleep while eating her snack at 11ish.. Just asleep in her high chair. But we wake her right up and push to normal nap time. Yesterday she fell asleep in the car seat and did a 30 minute nap and refused to nap again. Gah!
