Lactation cookies - any experience?
« on: July 29, 2015, 17:51:27 pm »
Not sure if this is the right place!

A friend has asked me to make lactation cookies for her and her SIL who both have tiny babies (she has twins).

Hs anyone any exp if these work? Or any other ideas they could try to increase supply?

Fenugreek! It made a huge difference to me. I had to take quite a lot every day (I had a weird curry/maple syrup aroma!), but it increased my supply within 24 hours of starting them.

How did you consume it? Tea?

Capsules.  I got mine from holland and barratts, http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/good-n-natural-fenugreek-capsules-610mg-60006020 but I'm sure you could get them online a bit cheaper.  Even with the capsules, I think I had to take at least 4 a day  :o...so that would be a lot of tea  :D!

Fenugreek too! I just got the seeds and steeped them in hot water. Easy peasy. Yes, a lot of tea!

Blessed thistle is supposed to help too.

Hydration is key, and a good diet with lots of good fats and protein.

I made and ate them and yes, increased my supply but it wasn't the right thing to do for me as oversupply can be terrible for mum and baby. Might be worth just seeing what their supply is like before they eat them.

My friend made me cookies. I have also taken fenugreek. Both worked for me but as bec said, see what supply is first because oversupply can be a problem.

I didn't realize the age of her twins. Yes, by then she'd know if she had oversupply or not. :)

Get them to check out this post for lots of tips to see if they really have supply problems and how to increase it if they do. I'm worried I may have low milk supply
