3.5mo not drinking as much
« on: July 29, 2015, 23:52:27 pm »
So a few weeks ago Ds started drinking more.. 6oz from 4oz every 4 hours so 8am, 1230pm, 4pm, 8pm, and night feeding 230am.. Give or take 15 mins and just the last few days he is not interested in a bottle when he wakes so around 9am he will have a bottle but seems so not interested, it either takes him forever, he spits it out, or just plays with the nipple with his tongue and only drinks like 3.5oz and won't even want another bottle for 3.5-4 hours and that only he only takes like 5oz but for the other 3 he drinks the 6oz. Should I be worried? Why wouldn't he be drinking as much? Thanks!

Have you swapped him to a faster teat recently? If you haven't then I would try that that, it could be the flow is too slow for him now.

Is he teething? Does he have any digestive issues like reflux?

Keep an eye on nappies and weight gain although babies are very good at self regulating. You might find that he increases his intake again soon when he hits the 4 month growth spurt.

Switched him to a medium flow about 3 weeks ago. As for reflux I'm not sure but teething maybe. He has been very droopy the last few weeks and had been trying to put everything in his mouth. The last few days he has been rather cranky... Not himself. Today has been the worst, he won't let me put him down and isn't really napping but when he does its for a very short time and when he wakes he doesn't just cry he screams, which he never does. He has also been gagging today and then spitting up a bit.. Even hours after a bottle, he doesn't have a fever but feels a little warm so I keep checking.

He also seems to still have quite a few wet nappies.

How are things now? He didn't sound right in your last post - did it progress into anything?
