What is a reasonable bedtime for a 2 month old?
« on: August 02, 2015, 01:24:23 am »
DD2 has been APOP to sleep since very young since we had a difficult witching hour with her, so we decided to keep her downstairs with us and help her fall asleep. Now she is mostly fine in the evening so I think it is time to teach her to fall asleep in her crib on her own. However she always 'naps' in the evening and never goes to sleep until maybe 9:30 or 10:30 for the night.  Between 7 and 10 she will nap and wake up.  I know it can be normal for babies to have a later BT when they are very young, but at 2 months should i expect her to fall asleep for the night around 7-8? With 2 other LO's and the summer holidays, i am 'choosing my battles' and I am considering doing the sleep training with shh pat only from 9PM and treat the sleeps between 7 and 9 as naps.

Any thoughts?

At around 2 months, I started incorporating a 7pm BT and a fixed 7am WU. Bath would start at 6pm every evening, followed by BT nursies.

At 2 months mine still went to bed later. It was after the 3 month growth spurts that we started to go a bit earlier to bed x

I think the witching hour business is going on and no matter what I did w dd or DS at that age BT was rough.

Great to know it can still be 'normal'. I tend to forget what it was like for the other 2 but I thought they did go to bed earlier at that age.

While they are still going to bed later do you wake them in the morning? Or do you let them sleep as long as they wish?

I let my DD2 sleep as it gave me time to get DD1 sorted and it meant I could have brekkie with her x
