2:1 Transition?
« on: August 03, 2015, 02:11:09 am »
Hi Mamas!
My LO is 11 months and I have a feeling that we're going to be going through the 2:1 transition real soon. I would love any help or insight!
Our Schedule was...
7:30 Wake although sometime earlier
Nap 1: 10:30 - 11:00 (wake her at 30 mins)
Nap 2: 3 - 4:30 (normally need to wake her)
Bedtime by 8
STTN

The last week or so LO has been waking at 8am
Nap 1:11 - 11:30
Nap 2: 4- 5:30 (LO has been refusing to nap until then.)
Bedtime has still been at 8. She's still goes to sleep immediately and STTN

I'm concerned that her 2nd nap is too late in the day and am wondering if it's going to start to effect bedtime? Do you think we should start to transition to 1 nap?

I would agree that the current routine needs to change. So what were you thinking of doing?

I was thinking transitioning to one nap for at least 2 hours earlier in the day?

It's a bit more complicated than that. This link should help. From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)
Have a read and then we can make a plan

Thank you for the thread. My little one doesn't really identify with any of those "signs" right now. She is more so just pushing out her awake time to be super long and refusing to nap until later in the morning and the afternoon. I know her routine really isn't typical but it seemes to be working.we were having sleep issues with nap time and night wakings a month or so ago... That's when  I flipped things around so she had a 30 min capped nap in the am and a 1.5h in the pm. What do you suggest? I'm open to anything. I don't mind her routine now I'm just concerned it's going to start causing problems in the future.

Well, my experience is mainly with long am-short pm, in which we slowly reduced the CN to 10 minutes tops and finally dropped it completely as am nap was ending at a good time.

The other way around - short am, long pm basically would entail setting your pm nap at a convenient time and shortening the am nap so that it doesn't interfere with her being tired enough at that time.
