Suddenly Grumpy baby at night
« on: August 03, 2015, 17:03:27 pm »
My twin boys 8 months (7 months adjusted) have always fallen asleep really easily until they started teething. I could put them in the crib and even when they were sick they would contentedly play in the crib until they fell asleep. Now they start to cry as soon as I put them down in the crib. I pick them up and then they are fine, can fall asleep even on my shoulder (which they never did before), but as soon as I lay them down again (awake or asleep) they wake up and cry.

Is there anything that I can do to help them fall asleep easier again? I'm not really sure what I did to get them to act like this. I will post our daily schedule in the comments below. Thanks again!

Hi there! Are you giving them anything for teething? Have they been on this routine for a while? I notice the last A time before bed is about 4 hours. That could be a tad much  for a 7 (or 8!) month old LO. Are they crying before every nap and BT, or just BT? Am I correct in understanding they were independent sleepers before the teething? ( as in, lay them down, walk out of the room and they to sleep?) If you don't mind to clarify questions, we can get a better idea what is going on. :)

Sure thing! I just got done with a month long transition into this routine via help in the NW section :). They did fine with it for about a week before they started the screaming. They only cry/scream like I explained at the second nap and BT (the first nap they just lay down and are out). You are correct that they were independent sleepers before teething.

I would start by using whatever form of meds ( or other) that you are comfortable with using for teeth. Then start pushing first A out about 15 minutes so your day doesn't get too short. I would make BT no more than a 3 hour A as it towards the end of the day and OT can build up. See where they gets you for a few days as they may have gotten a bit OT and uncomfortable with the teething. Hope that helps!
