Help confused between regression, transition ecc
« on: August 07, 2015, 13:35:50 pm »
Hello everyone,

I have a son who is 7 month old and from the beginning I have been very fond of Tracy's book and tried to follow her advices early on. Thanks to her he was early sleeping through the night, no night feeds and also now he is on a good easy day structure.
Nevertheless this has not stopped us to fall into the regression of the 4th months (night wakings without bf) and 45 minutes naps  ::)
This has made necessary to take away his pacifier and we worked on the naps and after three days of sweating he slept again through the night  :)
Since then we had a mix of ok naps, good naps and short naps but the night he sleeps from 9 pm to 8-9 am (dream feed at 11pm)

This our history...

After on weekend with lots of programs I maybe became too soft on working on continuing his naps after an early waking but now it is two days I'm trying hard to get him back on track, but I find that pu/pd has lost his touch with him (is he older and has it figured out?) or is he slowly ready for longer activity and simply is not tired anymore? Am I in transition from 3 to 2 naps? ???

His day when he has good naps:
8.30 eat ( bf )
Then activity
10 sleep
11.30 eat (solids)
Then activity
14 sleep
15.30 eat (solids=yogurt)
Then activity
18 sleep
19 bath and 19.30 eat (bf)
Then activity
21 sleep (dreamfeed at 23)

The last activity we have because my husband comes home at 20 and he would not see him at all ....

Now he regressed to not do naps longer then 45 min and maybe he stays in bed babbling for 20 min and then cry or he cries from the beginning... Crying guaranteed if I enter the room and start pu/pd....

Thank you for your help!
S.

Sorry,
Maybe I shouldhave added that he is going down very easily at all naps and bt. I hold him 1-2 minutes maybe less and then I put him to bed on his favorite sleep side and he takes his tumb and off I go....

I was wondering if I should make activity longer.... Like 15 minutes and feed him 15 minutes later if that would work out. But I abs don't want to overtire him....

Thanks again!!!

Hi there, welcome to the forums :) I would say your LO is ready for a bit more A time :)  45 minute naps are often UT, and average A time for a 7 month old is 2hr 45 - 3hr 15, whereas it looks like your LO is on around 1hr 30 - 2hrs 30. You probably will find that when you increase A times you find it difficult to fit it all in too, so you probably will hit the 3-2 quite quickly too.

You might find the following links helpful:

HTH, let me know if you have any questions  :)

Thank you!! I will definitely read this... I would have never found it myself. I would be happy to have only two naps but I was wondering how to make it work ...!
I never was able to understand how long a correct A time would be so I'm glad you told me now.
I will let you know what it goes and in case I get lost on my new mission  ;D I will come back to you!!
