Dropping a feed- 11mo
« on: August 27, 2015, 11:39:04 am »
Hi :)

I'm doing 4 BF/day (usually, sometimes an extra squeezes in) and am keen to move toward morning and night only. Dd will be 12 mo in just over a week :(

I usually feed round 6-7am, 11/11:30am, 3:30/4pm and before bed at 6:40pm. Occasionally a night feed though I'm also keen to end this :D

Do I drop he late afternoon feed first? And try to push the morning feed later? This seems to be the one she wants most and the hardest to budge. Or do I replace with a sippy cup of milk and not lose the feed?

I can't remember from my boys, thanks in advance :)

I just dropped down to 3 feeds when we moved to one nap as it was a natural time to change since we no longer had that second wake up. What are your LO's naps like now?

You can give a sippy of milk instead if you want but she doesn't need it if she is still having a couple of feeds from you.

Check out our weaning FAQ for more info on strategies for dropping feeds. Weaning

Thanks :)

We are still on two naps, but moving towards one pretty rapidly. I offered a sippy of milk that she spat out yesterday arvo. I'm a bit worried that if I chop and change I'll lose my supply (and already feel like there isn't much)...and she's a hungry baby but doesn't always love solids...so was going to replace rather than drop at this stage.

You could try to replace with a yogurt or other solids snack perhaps.
