Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can help me. My daughter is 9.5 months old. Since 4 months old she has slept in 30 min nap cycles, every single nap. I have tried everything to extend these including, pat shush, pupd, wake to sleep (all varietys of this technique), extending and lessening awake time, leaving to cry, etc etc occasionally (once a week) she will go back to sleep for 30 mins but usually I absolutely can't resettle her, then she's up and grumpy.
I'm really really over it. I can't get anything done and my other two preschoolers get no attention as I'm constantly dealing with the baby.
We start our day around 6/6.30. I have tried awake time from 2 to 3.5 hours. She goes to sleep by herself but always wakes after 30 mins crying. She sleeps fairly well at night. Is there anything else I can try?

Hugs xx

So at 9 months you are looking at at least 3/4 hours of A time likely 3.5 or more so I wonder if you have still been trying from 2/3.5 A time if you haven't gotten stuck in an UT/OT cycle.

Is your LO an independent sleeper?

What A time do you do first thing after night sleep?  What time is bed and wake up?

Thank you for replying. Yes she's an independent sleeper, just has a comforter that she takes to bed. I have recently been doing 3 hours of awake time. Should I increase this to 3.5 perhaps? sHe always seems to be getting tired after two hours

Often when you are in at UT/OT cycle they can appear to get tired early on. If 3 hours is still getting you short naps then she maybe does need a bump in A time. If you think 3.30 is too big a jump maybe just add 15 mins for a day or two before bumping again.

If you do get a short nap are you decreasing the next A time?

Hugs xx short naps are sooooooo draining x

Thank you! I will try for as close to 3.5 hours as I can this morning. After a 30 min nap I usually decrease awake time to 2.5 hours, would this be too short?

Today, I couldn't really work on naps. She's developed a terrible cough which starts every time she lays down. I managed to keep her up for her first sleep for three hours 26 minutes. She was very tired but seemed very settled and went straight to sleep. Unfortunately her coughing started after ten mins. However I was able to settle her (many many times), and she was in bed for an hour and 23 minutes. So I'm hoping this is a good sign and will continue working on this once her cough has passed
